LINK

Interesting line from the article, the guy got Tunsil's old phone either with those texts/video on it or it just allowed him password access. He got the old phone when he GAVE Tunsil a new phone in October during the OM season

Tunsil would probably be better off just letting everything drop and moving on with his NFL life. He really doesn't want everything scrutinized.

Those millions are long gone. Tunsil needs to find a better way to make it up.

So Tunsil, who was sidelined for NCAA violations, accepts a $45 phone from a runner?

Isn't this pretty much an admission that the texts were real?

Don't tell the Ole Miss board quite yet. They still have a case of tin foil to distribute and those hats don't make themselves.

Tunsil will pay more in attorney's fees than he'll ever collect from the guy.

My takeaway was, of course A) it sucks for the guy, and the perpetrator should probably be outed to the FBI, B) the texts would appear to be admitted as real and feloniously acquired, not a well prepared fake, and C) While the man was out on an NCAA violation, he took a free phone.

A comment above called it a $45 phone, but we don't know if it was a burner (unlikely) or an IPhone 6. Also, was it an unlocked phone associated with no plan that he took into a store and registered? If it was an unlocked iPhone 6 those go for $400+ if it had a plan already he may have used that phone and plan for months which could have been $100/mo. By pursuing this he's certainly taunting the NCAA, especially since he obviously won't talk to the NCAA when they come calling.

Did Hugh or an assistant know he had a runner/financial advisor who gave him things and handled agent meetings? Did the guy come to practices? Games?

It's not good and they really should have been more nuanced in their communications with the press here because they're not making things better by ignoring the question of authenticity, but it's not necessarily an implicit admission of anything. The issue is the accounts being hacked and used. That is, in itself, it's merely an admission that someone logged into Tunsil's accounts without authorization. What that someone did next -- published real communications or created fake ones specifically to take advantage of the hack -- is still technically up for debate. They're not investigating who released the texts so much as they're investigating who used the accounts to disseminate information that they've yet to concede is factual.

That hacked phone is bound to have many more incriminating text conversations. The hacker released a snippet when he knew he would do the most damage. We probably have only seen the tip of the iceberg.

Also, why does Tunsil need a lawyer at this point? He has no connection to OM at this point. Seems like a big waste of time and money when there is no chance of punishment.

Looks like the guy plotted this all along when he bought LT a new phone. He most likely kept the old phone just in case Tunsil decided to part ways with him.

This is really a stupid question, but if Tunsil gave his old phone to the guy before erasing all the data in exchange for a new one, how can the handler be charged for hacking?

It's no longer Tunsil's property. No?

It isn't a stupid question at all. The answer would cut right to the heart of whether or not there was a crime committed. If Tunsil gave him the phone and especially if he didn't have it secured or shared his access codes, there will not be any charges.

apparently so, as well as giving his old phone to someone without wiping it clean. It's fair to say he doesn't make a lot of good decisions.
