The 2011 Ala/LSU game was probably the best in the last 20 years or so, but back in the day when defense was king and field position was everything, there were a bunch of great defensive games.

It's a fricking broadcast...every single announcer has an opinion on any call within 10 seconds. What is he supposed to do? "Well I'll wait to form an opinion on that call in 5 minutes when no one even cares about that call anymore" Hell, everyone on here has an opinion about it as it happens.

LOL - alright. We all have our pros and cons, but Stan White is about the biggest homer of a broadcaster as I've ever heard. Chris Stewart is pretty bad for us with basketball/baseball in a similar way (Jim Powell is the same with the Braves). Anything that doesn't go right is a terrible screw job, anything that is 50/50 that goes our way is the right call.

Some people like their guys to do that - it drives me up the fvckin wall.

Derrick Thomas vs. Kentucky in '88. 14 tackles, four sacks, one blocked punt, and one blocked field goal.

Lsu wasnt attempting 45 yarders either.

This is true. You only had 3 scoring chances all game. One that your D gave you on an INT that was returned to the 17 (you got 2 yards on O and settled for a 32 yd FG), another on your only real drive of the day (19 yard FG), and the 3rd when you started at the 25 in OT and eventually got the 25 yard FG after a great 15 yard run.

As for "epic defensive games", how can 1/9/12 NOT be part of the discussion? Bama's D held LSU to 92 yards of total O, 2/12 3rd down conversion, and 39 yards rushing on 27 attempts. The LSU O was outgained by more than 4-1 margin in that game and was shut out in the biggest game in program history. That's got to be on the list of "epic defensive games".

Oh, for sure. I'd just rather not bring that game up

Ppl hate it when I say this, but I knew we weren't gonna win that game. Ur not gonna beat Saban twice in the same year. Especially when our win was in their place in the fashion it happened. I gave us a 10% chance of winning.

2006: AU 7 LSU 3

Historically 1958: AU 13 UT 0
UT did not make a first down and had negative total yards

9-6 was the best defensive slug fest I have ever seen.

Much respect to LSU

Indeed.

Yeah, but LSU did not back it up like Alabama did in the championship game. That was back to back incredible defensive performances by Bama.

2007 BCS National Title Game. Florida held Ohio State to 82 yards of total offense and allowed only four pass completions by Heisman Trophy recipient Troy Smith.

Bama did beat the tigers 3 to 0 way back. I was in tiger stadium for that game on a rain soaked field.

a lot of great games to choose from but I believe 2006 AU/LSU is the most physical football game I have ever seen.

1988-- Bama 8 penn state 3
The derrick Thomas show. 3 sacks in the 2nd half. 9 qb hurries. Psu was stout but we had the best pass rusher college football has ever seen. I think each team crossed the 50 like 3 times.
