The SEC has seen many flash in the pans

With 220 passing yards (which will probably come this week), Manziel will be the first player in the history of the SEC to throw for 3000 yards and rush for 1000 yards. He's 2nd in the nation in total offense.

It's between Klein and Manziel at this point:

Manziel has ran for 1014 yards, Klein 748.
Manziel has thrown for 2780, Klein 2020.
Manziel has 33 total TDs, Klein 31.

Comparing the last two weeks:

Manziel

@ (15) Miss State:
30/36 311 yards 0 TD 0 INT
21 rushes 129 yards 2 TD

@ (1) Alabama:
24/31 253 yards 2 TD 0 INT
18 rushes for 92 yards

Klein

Ok. State
16/22 245 yards 0 TD 0 INT
17 rushes for 64 yards 1 TD

You can make the argument that he got injured, but Manziel only played 3 quarters against Miss State

@ TCU
12/21 145 yards 0 TD 1 INT
15 rushes 50 yards 2 TD

Klein is 5th in the Big 12 in total offense! That should say a lot about the defenses he's playing against.

To put things into perspective, Cam Newton, who has the best offensive season in SEC history rushed for 1409 yards and passed for 2589 yards for 3998 total yards in 13 games. With 200 yards this week against Sam Houston State, he will surpass that total in under 11 games....

Give it to him now.

You forgot one big thing.

Klein - 0 loses and chance at national title

Manziel - 2 loses and no chance at national title

I know people are going to bring up Tebow in 07.....but no one was even in his universe that year....I'd imagine if someone from an Ohio St or LSU would have been then he would have had a fight himself.

Good call Corndog. He'll be lucky to still be starting for us by the end of the year.

FWIW replying to the correct poster makes this place happier for everybody......anyone who says Manziel regressed is a damn clown.

ETA don't you have some ectoplasm or some shite like that to dispose of?

Klein is barely in Manziel's universe statistically. Being the 5th best offensive player in his conference is a pretty telling statistic.

come on now he is in the neighborhood.....and he has one other thing besides being squarely in the natty hunt that Heisman voters like in their winner.....he is an upper classman.

I'm not saying that Klein absolutely deserves it over Manziel....but what I am saying is that as long as Klein doesn't fall off and K-State continues raping people I'd be pretty shocked if he didn't win it with his team sitting in the BCS national title game.......plus to this point he has gotten all of the ESPN hype. I believe that the fact that Manziel plays in the SEC is going to hurt him because I've seen these ESPN dumbasses pump anyone to beat the SEC in something.

Although stranger things have happened.

Barner from Oregon

will both end up with more votes.

I'm not going to nonsensically space out my response, but here goes:

Lee has next to no shot. He'll go to NY and he's been great, but USC sucking combined with the fact that he's a WR badly hurt his chances.

Barner is coming off a 20 carry 65 yard game against Cal. If he blows up Stanford, then maybe he can jump back into it, but until then. No. He also has to deal with some split votes between teammates.

That right there killed Barner....until then I thought he was the lead horse.

I mean hell 300+ against USC and then less that 75 against Cal....yea that is a Heisman killer.

The problem with Manziel's chances is that his stardom will subside a bit due to the competition he faces in the next two weeks. Klein will be leading Kansas State to a potential NCG appearance and will be on everybody's talking point.

our last game is on national prime time TV. and plus we have an outside chance at the bcs bowl. while klein definitely has a more important 2 weeks, manziel still has the chance for one last big game on national tv for everyone to watch
