Look.. you guys don't want the Ftards in other conferences stealing OUR TROPHIES..

I'd have voted for Lattimore if he was up for it.

1) To be fair, the loss to Florida was the first game of the 2012 season for Manziel and Texas A&M this season, not the second. But, his worst game was the seventh game against LSU. Either he regressed or he's erratic - not consistent.

2) Texas A&M is the leader in team offense. Manziel is not the leading passer or the TD leader in the conference. The Heisman is an individual award, not a team award. The numbers tell me that Texas A&M is the most effective on offense as a team, but Manziel is not.

I wouldn't mind supporting the guy but I can't buy into the groupthink that puts so much weight on a single game but ignores the whole picture.

Or LSU has a badass fast defense built to stop QBs and he still put up the best combined passing+rushing by a QB on them all season?

You do know that Johnny leads the SEC and nation in Total Offense and is also the SEC leading rusher, right? He is in fact the TD leader in the conference with 198 total points responsible for, #2 is Bray with 174.

The picture of, barring a broken leg, being only the 3rd QB in history to have 3000 passing/1000 rushing in a single season.. only 1 other BCS conference player did that, Vince Young. He's only the 2nd Freshman to do 2000/1000, 1st being Brad Smith from Mizzou. I wish he could do place kicking, that certainly would have helped in a couple of games.

Please provide some concrete reasons why Manziel should be considered for the Heisman.

He was ineffective in at least two games this season and is not a statistical leader in key QB statistics. The media are pushing JFF down our throats because they dont want to admit they were wrong about Alabama's prowess. He had three interceptions against LSU and Johnny Failure cost his team that game.

Crown him.

Amazing. Simply amazing.

Some of the LSU ranters are dumb as frick.

OP is stupid (not because I don't think JFF's deserving, but I hate groveling for votes--his play on the gridiron is solid enough to win it if you're objective, IMO, and btw posting this on the Rant is just asking for trouble), but Freek's gif=gold!

Speaking of pedestrian, Klein against OSU:

12-of-21 passing for 145 yards and one interception; 15 rushes for 50 yards and one touchdown.

A guy that's #5 in his conference in total offense and #4 in points responsible for.

There was a Heisman winner in BDS Saturday night, but that wasn't him.

You are a moron. And please do check out Manziel's 300+ yards of offense against probably the best defense in the nation (LSU). Also, check out Klein's 145 passing yards, 50 rushing yards, and interception against a TCU team that will probably finish the year 6-6.

FincAg, it's a shame that you can't participate in a reasonable, fact-based discussion like Relapse. He actually responded with facts that support his point of view and put Manziel in a better light than I previously saw.

I guess I'm old school and think the Heisman should go to the best player on one of the best teams and I don't see Manziel fitting that description. And a quarterback should excel in passing (i.e. TD passes). It's my opinion.

As an LSU fan, I would love to have Johnny Football. Sam Montgomery is right, Johnny Football should win the heisman. No doubt!

This.

I'd take the word of someone who's played against him- especially if he's one of ours. Sam knows a great player when he sees one...

And if there is a more dangerous player out there, I haven't seen him this year.

No, I am no "moron". I just took the time to check out several Heisman sites & his average was 5th out of the 7 sites I looked at. And those offensive stats don't quite show the whole picture, which is why it is as the old saying goes: "one can use stats to prove anything". You conveniently forgot to add to that mix his turnovers & the fact that he had no TD's. As well, at least 70 of his total yrds came on the last drive of the game, when it was comfortably over & LSU was in its favorite semi prevent defense. I respect the hell out of him as a college QB & sincerely hope he stays healthy & has a great career. The SEC needs more players like JM, T.Tebow, M.Lattimore, etc etc. Just quit trying to shove him down our throats here as a god. The SEC has seen many flash in the pans, so perhaps best wait to see where he stands after 2 full seasons. As an avid LSU fan, I'd gladly buy him a pitcher of beer for beating bama, as soon as he get legal.
