Auburn/Georgia and Tenn/Bama still keep the rivalry going every other year.

I know yall just spit in the face of 100 years of tradition, but us 4 schools would rather keep playing every year.

it seems that the conference unity that was so instrumental is eroding due to selfish interests taking higher precedent.

How is unity eroding? The vote was apparently a pretty big landslide. The only one that seems to be divisive about the subject is LSU.

The simple solution is to eliminate permanent cross division opponents.

But the state of Alabama doesn't like simple solutions

Permanent games

Alabama: Auburn, VOLS, MSU
Auburn: Alabama, UGA, MSU
Ole Miss: LSU, MSU, Vandy
MSU: Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn
LSU: Ole Miss, Texas A&M, HOGS
Texas A&M: LSU, HOGS, Missouri
Arkansas: Texas A&M, Missouri, LSU
Missouri: Arkansas, Texas A&M, SC
Kentucky: Vols, vAndy, UF
Tennessee: UK, Vandy, bama
Vanderbilt: Vols, UK, Ole Miss
S Carolina: UGA, UF, Missouri
Georgia: SC, UF, Auburn
Florida : UGA , SC, UK

every school rotates 5 teams per year so you play everybody else twice in 4 years. The 2 highest rated school's play in the title game.

auburn/florida would have pretty close to the same number of games platyed against each other as bama/Tennessee had the sec not broken up the series.

The only way the NCAA will allow a Championship Game is to have Divisions. That is why they were started.

You think having 1 rotating opponent is bad? Wait until you have 5.

Divisions are far because most of the schedule is the same for the opponents.

Divisions exist in every major sporting body for that reason.

You increase the number of teams, you need to increase the number of games. Should have gone to 9.

The SEC got out of the business of duplicate markets the second the notion of an SEC Network was born.

So no Florida State either, the next 2 adds will come from this group: UNC, NC State, OU, UTx, UVA, Va Tech.

Keep the divisions but only count division wins and loses to determine the participants in Atlanta. Problem solved, you're welcome.

"We've always done it this way"

Is the leading cause of death in business.

Y'all will still play just not as often and you'll still be close to fans of opposing teams. Get over it. Change should come.

It would be fair for sure, but would also greatly diminish the cross-divisional games.

They'd essentially be non-conference games at that point. The East/West would be their own conferences really, which is kinda lame.

Besides, given the nature of how the tiebreakers work, the in-division games are already worth effectively twice as much as a cross divisional game.

When you beat someone in your division, you've effectively gained a 2 game lead on them.

Despite LSU and South Carolina's complains, the cross divisional games have very, very rarely decided the division winners if you look back historically.

I would like Auburn, Tennessee, LSU, and Ole Miss as permanents. The rest can rotate every year. Solid idea IMO (assuming that the rotation is in such a way to put LSU at a disadvantage).

Dilemma solved on this board. Only count divisional games for who goes to atlanta. 6 games against your divisional foes with the other 6 in determine who wins the division. The Joe Alleva doctrine has been created.
