Would end up being the closest thing we could have this season to Saban coming into Athens and beating a top ranked UGA team in 2008. We might not go on to win or even play for the SECCG, but it would signify a lot for this program to get that kind of signature win against what is likely to be a favored division rival early in Smart's HC career.

I disagree. Kirby inherited a good team not a rebuild. Y'all are acting like you've been in the shitter for years but UGA has been a good team for more than a decade damn near every year. You'll be a good team next season.

UGA winning 10 games last year had a lot less to do with UGA and more to do with the weakness of our schedule. The coaching was bad and the play was subpar. Relative to the Bamas and Ohio States that we are trying to emulate as a program, this is most certainly a rebuild. If Kirby can win our biggest game of the season (and given Tennessee's talent and lofty expectations, I don't think that's overselling that game) then we will know the program has taken a turn.

I understand you're trying to get over the hump but your roster is and will remain a championship roster in terms of talent (5*s all over the place). We will likely be a preseason top 10-15 team and assuming we don't screw up against UF (which is a big assumption given our history of finding ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory whenever we play the gators) we'll roll into Athens ranked in the top 10 but the Dawgs won't be unranked or even low ranked. You'll likely be in the top 15.

I expect that game to be a knockdown drag out fight as it's been decided by a ridiculously small difference in points for several years now.

Not gonna read because I hope no one curses the poor kid by comparing him to some former Hiesman finalists or NFL All-Pros.

I swear, I'm so over the UGA fans wanting to say it's a rebuild , you look silly saying it. And the schedule is weaker this year.
UNC lost 80% of its offense
OM replaces Bama on the schedule and they lost key players on defense, probably their best defense ever.
USC is down and has a new coach
Zou is down and a new coach
UF lost a ton on D, they won't be better than last year.
GT is not getting better.

UGA is still stacked, and we have an inspired and hungry coaching staff. I don't know if the dawgs can beat UT, but it's in Athens and the week after UF for them. So there's a chance.

And even if Eason is not the starter, which I think he gets the ball earlier rather than later. For all the deficiencies GL has he still went 10-2 as a starter. Just stop with rebuilding crap, the only teams with returning starting QBs worth a dang are UT and OM, but even they have questions in other areas. There is no reason to poor mouth.

He inherited a team that was about 6-6 in quality.

UNC and Ole Miss could both beat us before we even meet.

So, he has #1 pick potential but he won't have to face loaded Gator teams coached by Urban?

I'll take it.

Looks like they return most of their OL, their top 2 RB's, and 3/4 of their top WR's.

Richt hater is ignorant. In 2012 and 2013 before the biggest injury brigade ever seen we were a top 5 team in the country. 2014 was a top 15 team and then yes last year we fell off a bit.

But let's not forget that the majority of the key pieces of this signing class probably would have committed to Richt as well.

Dude didn't forget how to coach all of a sudden after 15 years

He sure had a lot of success early in his career, but the results in the 2nd half of his career werent close to it. The buck starts and stops with the head coach.

Agreed. He'll have another year in the system with more confidence.

And who's getting them the ball?

RSO Mitch Turbinsky , 555 yds and 6 Tds in 2 years (312 & 4tds against Deleware in relief). Like I said 80% , since the run a pass run option all plays go through the qb read, hence the offensive production. UNC doesn't line up behind center and turn and give it to Hood. Who is a wonderful back, but UGAs defense will be built to stop the run. So it goes back on an untested QB.

Btw. Dawgs are -5 on the early line. Just to prove my point , that there are some dawgs out there for whatever reason wanting to pump the breaks

He looks good...BUT, all true freshmen will make enough mistakes to lose you a couple of games, maybe more in the SEC. See Stafford for an example or the Cal phenom last year. Secondly that UGA defense looks like donkey excrement. Kirby has been vocal about how bad they are, and UGA will be relying on a high school aged kid to win shootouts with SEC teams. Good luck with that. 9-3 or 8-4 this year...2017 and folks might start getting nervous.

A highly rated dual threat 3rd year QB who has looked very good when he has played is getting them the ball. I remember when he came in cold off the bench and threw a bullet for a 16 yard first down vs Clemson last year.
