We also have 10 astronauts (probably the most but I dunno) because we are one of a handful that offers aerospace engineering. The military often sends astronauts/pilots to UT for their MAs, although many get both their BA and MA in the program.

For the scientists and those who already have their MA, we also have Arnold Air Force Base which is a test site for the AF and UTSI (UT Space Institute has priviliges there). UTSI was set up to take advantage of the Developmental Complex there which is top of the line.) UTSI focuses on training those with grad degrees and was setup to aid the space program.

Our astronauts have degrees from UT (Knoxville) tho.

IOW, we built that.

Rich, etc?

Needs some parameters. Living, or dead, non-sports, otherwise folks will just list their best athletes.

Not the most, but damned impressive. The most (excluding the service academies, of course) appears to be MIT.

Also on top of that impressive list, I'd imagine only A&M has more oil ceo's than LSU

5 years ago LSU had 2 of the top 5 highest paid CEO's in Houston with Cazalot and Flores. I'm not sure if Cazalot is still working, but Flores is still pretty young.

Lod Cook also comes to mind

eta: Pollyanna Chu is the wealthy businesswoman from China. she's worth 1.23 billion

MIT doesn't surprise me - there's an odd kinship with UT and MIT. Both were THE schools the military loved to send its soldiers and officers too and that's been the case since WWII. Both were participants in the rocket programs and on it goes. Sometimes the military sent and sends them to both. I never would've guessed all that had I not come across it all by accident.

As far as UT, when I realized we had 10 it shocked the frick out of me.

What you fail to mention is that 21 of your Rhodes Scholars are just random people who accidentally went to the wrong Oxford after using Apple maps.
