Dr. Choctaw Hog, there are tons of athletes that are muscular and developed when they enter college. It's the way it is now a days with the weight training that some high schools have now. But to say that he is peaked is ridiculous. An example is Herschel Walker. Have you seen pics of him right out of HS? I don't think he peaked as a freshman at UGA. He continued to get bigger and stronger and faster.

I would love for him to go to Ark over AU. But that statement is as bad as "we didn't want him anyway". Sour Grapes my friend.

Sour grapes? Not hardly Nurse Tubedog13. Dyer is fine physically just the way he is. He is a man child already and his upside, as far as his physical qualities are concerned, are limited. I'm not going to fricking argue with you about it because it will all pan out in due time and we will see who is right. I didn't say he wasn't going to be a damn good player. I just stated that he is already physically mature and will not improve that much, physically, as he gets older. What the frick is wrong with that? Look at it this way.

1. Do you think Dyer will get any taller? I personally don't think he will but that won't effect his running ability, it will only affect how much more weight he can effectively carry. Dyer is 5' 8" and he will be 5' 8" next year as well.
2. Do you think he will get faster than a 4.4? Don't think so but 4.4 is obviously fast enough.
3. Do you think he will gain more weight? He is already over 200 LBS so I don't think any team would want him any heavier. Maybe I'm wrong. Hell, maybe Auburn wants him at 225 or 230. So tell us Nurse TubeDog, how much heavier do you want him?
4. How much stronger do you think he will get? Since he is already jacked will it be 5%, 10% 20%, just how much stronger do you think he will get? Dyer already benches 320 and squats 450. So, if he improves his strength by 20 % he will be benching 384 and squatting 540. Do you think he will be squatting 540 in two or three years? I don’t but he is already plenty strong enough. Even if he does, do you think that will help him be a better runner? Don’t think so.

The point I'm making is that if Dyer is 19 than he is more physically mature than he was at 17 or 18. If he isn’t did he regress? When I stated that I think Dyer upside is limited it’s because he is already so physically mature. Hell, if he doesn't mature any he is already strong and fast enough.

Get off you fricking high horse and look at thing objectively. Do I want Dyer to be a Hog? Hell yes I do but I'm here to tell you that I personally think Ronnie Wingo and Knile Davis both have more upside than does Dyer. Knile Davis just turned 18 a couple of weeks ago. Give him another year to mature and you will see big difference in him. Wingo is 18 and he will be more physically mature at 19 the he is now but there will be less and less of physical development the older he gets.

Would I hate to lose Dyer? Sure. But if he must go to an SEC West team then Auburn is the best place for him to go to not create any problems for the Hogs in the future. The way things are at Auburn now will not be the way they are two years from now. If the Tigers continue to struggle offensively, then at the very least the Malzahn experiment will run its course and he will be asked to leave. If your offense turns around and starts showing some life, Malzahn will leave for a head coaching job before Dyer is a sophomore. Either way, two years from now it’s very likely that Dyer will have a different OC running a different system.

This. I was only thinking that he could possibly gain weight and speed at this point, most all guys have their epiphyseal plates calcify around 17 or 18.

You are exactly right Marine. Especially ones that are already bulked up and physically mature looking.

Does it really matter if Dyer grows a few more inches? Most recruiting sites say his small stature is a advantage because it gives him a low center of gravity.
