If Dyer does indeed "commit" to Auburn then congrats to him. Personally, I hope Petrino and staff don’t give him the time of day after that. It's not that he is going elsewhere it's they way he has handled himself and his public disrespect to Coach Petrino. When he addressed other coaches who were recruiting him it was Coach so-and-so. When he said anything about Coach Petrino it was always Petrino, not Coach Petrino.
Also, nobody has ever verified this but it is my understanding that Dyer is already 19. If that is indeed true than his upside is going to be very limited, IMO. If he is already 19 then he is as big, as strong, and as fast as he is going to be.
Just think if Ronnie Wingo, Knile Davis (who just turned 18 a couple of weeks ago), Trent Richardson or any other really good freshman RB were to switch places with Dyer. How impressive do you think they would be?

you are wrong about that. He did commit to Saban it just wasnt public. everyone here knew it. Most of Alabama knew it. i do like the way you post though
Back on original topic, i think it is great to let the kids have their time in the spotlight. It just sucks for everyone else who tries to follow recruiting.

Personally, I try to not think about this kid. Someone is giving him some poor advice and I'm not talking about Auburn, Tennessee, or Arkansas people. It's probably some family member ...either that, or he's personally giving a lot of schools a lot of reason to be extremely skeptical in recruiting him.

It's all in good fun.

The thing that I don't get is why even bother to commit, in public, if you follow it up by saying you're still open?

That is the most ridiculous statement.

What the hell is so ridiculous about it? Dyer isn't going to get taller, he isn't going to get bigger, he probably won't get much stronger or faster than he already is based on how much he is already is already developed, especially if he is 19 instead of 17 or even 18. So, I ask again, what the frick is so ridiculous about it?

You know....kids still grow after 19.

Not when they are already fully developed. Just look at his photos.

Dr. Choctaw Hog, there are tons of athletes that are muscular and developed when they enter college. It's the way it is now a days with the weight training that some high schools have now. But to say that he is peaked is ridiculous. An example is Herschel Walker. Have you seen pics of him right out of HS? I don't think he peaked as a freshman at UGA. He continued to get bigger and stronger and faster.
I would love for him to go to Ark over AU. But that statement is as bad as "we didn't want him anyway". Sour Grapes my friend.

Wow, you obviously have no clue what you are talking about. My buddy went to play for Auburn and he was 19 when he went and he got absolutely huge from working out with Yoxall. You can develop speed, vertical jump, and strength. You are probably right though, he won't get much taller.

A whole lot of attention on this kid. But, least one forget he is a running back. Apparently a pretty good one although I've never seen him play. The point being that running back may be the least important position in the offense. Too many teams have won big without a great back (see Fl and LSU) and some teams couldn't win big with the arguably the best backfield in college football (see Arkansas). Give me a big strong dominant O line a calm, cool and collected QB over great backs any day.

Very doubtful he is done growing.
The military has a chart for recruits going to basic training. It can tell you over the course of basic training on average how much weight they gain, how much muscle they add, at the end what their weight will be and even their chest size will be at the end of it.
He is not done growing he will add height, weight, speed is always a touchy one some gain speed some stay the same and some don't carry the added weight well.

Cadillac Williams grew 30 lbs in college. He was listed as 192 as a freshman and he is around 225 at this point in time. I was going to to explain things in terms of Anatomy but its better to keep in in terms you can understand.
225-192= 33

Don't care about Dyer one way or the other; however, he won't gain more height if his growth plates are closed. Some 18 yr old guys are finished, some aren't. Steroids cause the growth plates to fuse early, so they can decrease potential height a bit. Unless you guys have access to serial xrays showing skeletal age, you have no idea if he will grow in stature or not.
I have no doubt he is capable of adding muscle and improving his speed, explosion, etc. Any SEC school will have a training staff capable of this. This is their job

This. I was only thinking that he could possibly gain weight and speed at this point, most all guys have their epiphyseal plates calcify around 17 or 18.
