I hope he doesn't get caught up in his own hype, because he will go undrafted if he leaves early. Probably won't get drafted if he comes back, but he will be the "number 1" running back and might do enough to get picked late rounds.

Is Ontario staying? I would assume so
He comes from a very poor family, so I could see him leaving, even if he doesn't get drafted high... He just had a great bowl game and will be fresh on the mind of scouts, so we'll see.
Also, when he got to Auburn, he said he would probably only be here 3 years...
Good luck to him if he leaves as well.
ETA: If he's drafted, it'll be in the 6th-7th round range because of his speed, return ability, and receiving ability out of the backfield.

I have no information either way on this but my guess is probably O-Mac won't be back.

Why would he go early? Would he even get drafted
1. He won't be getting any bigger.
2. He won't be getting any faster.
3. No guarantee what kind of role he'd play in a new OC's offense.
4. He's about as good as he's ever going to be.
5. If he leaves, he will leave healthy.
That's how I add it up and figure he probably won't be back. Now will he be drafted? Probably not. Will he succeed in the NFL? Probably not.
But does he likely want to go ahead and take that chance considering my factors listed above? Probably.

If he leaves I hope he gets picked but I would hope everyone advises him to come back.

Not that big of a deal. He can always come back and finish his degree.
I *hope* he comes back. I just don't think he will.

Fair enough. It'll be a good battle for starting back if both he and Dyer leave.

I agree 100%, and I wish Darvin Adams would have thought out this as well...
He would've helped out a good bit this season with Emory Blake getting hurt and us having to break in 3 new QBs.

A bit late on this, but

Auburn has told him to find someplace else to go

And would have likely hurt his chances even further for making an NFL team playing a year with crappy QBs.
Darvin was smart and left on the crest of a wave.
O-Mac is smart because he's leaving (if he is leaving) due to the list of reasons I posted above.
When people say "Player X needs to come back", generally what they mean is "the team I root for NEEDS Player X to come back".

Now Forde just RT'd that this rumor has been debunked and the Dyer family wants to meet with Chizik first.

I think Alabama does this too but if you leave early on good terms you're always allowed to come back and finish your degree at no cost.
I hate that Dyer is leaving. He's a really good football player. I hate that OMAC will probably go early. However, Tre Mason looked good and it's hard not to be excited about Mike Blakely. I won't pretend that they'll be better than the guys we're losing, but I think running back will be our shining position again next year.

I doubt it.
Emory Blake still had damn good stats despite him being hurt 50% of the season, or more...
Not only that, but he wasn't going to be drafted high in the first place. So, that being said, he went undrafted anyways. How could him coming back hurt anymore that it actually did? At least he would've gotten his degree.

Dyer may not be leaving. It looks like the rumor has already been debunked. Dyer should stay at Auburn one more year and be their main weapon on offense. He'll have a great year and then be able to make bank.

Please don't compare my thread to ATPB

Blake didn't have near as good of a year last year as Darvin had in 2010 (or even 2009 for that matter).
So is Blake not as good as Darvin? Or was it the difficulties in offensive production (QB and OL play)?
Darvin was NOT going to get any faster or have better hands or run better routes coming back another year.

Yup, they're being smart about it and want to talk to Coach Chizik first.
