The only other region that I can think of that comes close is southern California.

They don't care that much either.

Just comparing Florida's 2017 schedule to Michigan's (a respectable cold-weather team) is pretty remarkable. From February 17 to March 14, Florida didn't leave the state to play a game. The first out-of-state game was March 17 @Auburn. Game time temp: 65 and cloudy. In contrast, from February 17 to March 12, Michigan didn't play a single game in the state. The first in-state game was on March 16. Game time temp: Mid 30s and sunny.

Nailed it. It would be a much bigger deal up north if the teams had nicer weather and/or the season was pushed back to start in April. As it is right now, no good player wants to play for a team that can't even practice outside for the first month of the season.

Go spend a summer in NYC and then come back to me about how much people in the south value baseball so much more than people up north. The Yankees are on virtually every single TV in every single bar and restaurant up there. And... If the Yankees aren't on, the Mets are on in their place.

Same for Boston and the Sox. People eat, breathe, and drink the Red Sox in New England all summer long.

Oh.......... You mean college baseball?

Yes, it's the weather. We have lot's of 70 degree+ days in Feb and March in Baton Rouge. Not so much in Columbus, Ann Arbor, Madison, and State College.

I think so. Every sport is regional. The northeast is pretty much all basketball and doesn't care about college football or baseball

Trust a Georgia boy that did the reverse carpet bagger trip and ended up in New England.

You might look at the Patriots and think - they must love football. However, I'm here to tell you they LOVE baseball up here.

The South is much more in love with football rather than baseball. At least that's been my experience.

Hey RhodeDawg, I'm from Pawtucket. New England fans didn't give a shite about NFL football until Parcells got there. Until then, even with the success of the Celtics, IMO hockey was probably #2 behind baseball. They still don't give a shite about college football or college baseball.

Baseball is the biggest sport in New England by far. They have the Patriots and the Celtics but all they want to talk about is the Red Sox.

New York is similar w the Yankees.

Strangely, college ball is not a thing.
