Does the south as a whole value baseball more than the rest of the country?

Every year we see numerous sec and acc teams in the top 25 and the thread stating how many times an sec team has played for the title in the past 25 years had me thinking what is it that makes baseball so good down here. Do we just care more about it? The only other region that I can think of that comes close is southern California.

College baseball? Absolutely.
It literally never comes up where I live, and I don't think this is the outlier.

Do you mean to tell me that the folks in Minnesota don't play baseball in February?

Trust a Georgia boy that did the reverse carpet bagger trip and ended up in New England.
You might look at the Patriots and think - they must love football. However, I'm here to tell you they LOVE baseball up here.
The South is much more in love with football rather than baseball. At least that's been my experience.

For sure, but more along the lines of MLB. Youth baseball and College is more prominent in the south. Although there are some big youth leagues in Illinois and NE

Its odd because baseball in general is huge in the North.

MLB starts in April. College in February.

There are less professional baseball teams in the SEC than any other power 5 area so, yes, we care more about college baseball. Notice the most successful program in the SEC over the past decade being Florida has the close to the worst support and facilities. That's because there are professional baseball teams in Florida. Same with UGA. There shouldn't be a better baseball program in the country than UGA with their lottery help, lack of instate competition and elite talent pool, yet they blow.

Or it's because of Foleys 10 year renovations freeze

Ok, their fans still do not support them.

Have you ever seen or been to Floridas baseball stadium?
I'm assuming not.

Top 15 in attendance. Top half of the SEC.

The cold northern states view baseball as a summer sport. They love it, it's just a shorter season. Youth baseball is huge in the north, their kids just don't get the reps that ours do.

The South and the West have the weather and the history.
The West and the South are pretty even about passion and success.

I'd say that baseball is easily the biggest sport in Missouri. I think a lot of that has to do with the Cardinals.
It probably also depends on race.
I'd say here for white kids it's 1) baseball 2) soccer 3) football 4) lacrosse
For black kids it's probably 1) football 2) basketball 3) not sure

The timing of the college season is what drives it down south.
Better weather year round for sure.
Northern schools have always pushed to move the calendar back but logistically it's too hard.
Could you imagine if MLB held the draft in early June and the season extended through the end of July, those players would sign and forego the rest of the college season.
Plus, the Cape Cod league and all summer leagues would go away.
