So it's the offenses fault for leaving more than 1 minute on the clock when giving the defense the lead? Got it.

If the defense plays great for 58 minutes of the game, while the offense plays well for 2 minutes of the game, then yes, the loss will be mainly attributable to the performance of the offense.

Chavis' scheme consists of man-to-man with the occasional nickel blitz. Its not exactly some revolutionary system. You think aTm has the horses to run that scheme at the same level of success that LSU did? If you do, you're in for a rough couple of seasons.

So does Pass Rush. The only thing an argument like that does is diminish Chief's contributions. I don't think that is what you are trying to do. You guys who argue really need to start thinking about higher order consequences before you just say things.

The defense folding in the last 2 minutes is the offenses fault? That's make a ton of sense.

Said no one ever.

LSU's 2009 and 2010 defenses weren't anything to write home about. It took time for Chavis to get the right guys. Some growing pains should be expected. I'll never forget in 2009, Alabama icing the game by running 12 straight rushes at Rahim Alem (Tiger fro Myles Garrett).

LSU's 2009 and 2010 defenses

Both had more defensive talent on the roster than aTm has right now. Again, anyone who thinks Chavis is going to go in there and produce a top 30 defense is delusional.

I think Texas produces enough quality DBs, and Sumlin has shown himself to be a formidable enough recruiter, that it's not a stretch at all to think A&M will have at least a decent defense next year, and has a strong chance of having a very stout defenses after that. Good enough to regularly contend for the SEC.

I don't think it's that. It's probably more so the fact he doesn't have his bbq buddy Brick to do all of the leg work for the time being

LOL, defense folding in the last 2 minutes is solely the fault of the defense. Offense sucking dick for the first 58 minutes is, likewise, solely the fault of the offense.

It is the job of the offense to score points. It is the job of the defense to prevent the other team from scoring points. If the defense does their job over the course of 60 minutes better than the offense does their job over the course of 60 minutes, then the loss should be laid at the feet of the offense.

It is mind-boggling how many LSU fans fail to grasp this.

So if the offense has the lead after 58 minutes how are they to blame for the defense shitting on itself in the last 2??

I think we get it just fine.

A&M has 3 Texas DBs committed right now who are rated in the top 30 overall for the state. The lowest ranked of those is Roney Elam, the 247 composite #200 player in the nation. All three of them had LSU offers.

An "offense" doesn't have a lead. A team has a lead.

If the defense shits itself for 2 minutes, that is less bad than an offense that shits itself for 58.

If a team is leading a game 7-0 going into the final minutes, only LSU fans think to themselves "Good job offense, now just don't screw this up, defense!"

What's your point? Is this supposed to be a dig at LSU's DB recruiting?

I think many fans of many different teams think if they have a lead and the opponent has one drive left that they hope their D doesn't frick up and let them score. But that might just me. I like watching my team win.

Riiight. So it would pretty much always be the offenses fault in your scenario. Got it.

When your "shitty offense" manages to put up 20+ points you'd expect your defense to make just one fricking tackle in bounds to ice a game. Or maybe your DC puts some pressure on a QB on 3rd and 19 instead of putting DBs 15yds off the LOS.

Every fan hopes their defense doesn't frick up in the final minutes. Only LSU fans excuse the offense for fricking up for all of the first 58.
