A pattern of what? Top 20 defenses?
Getting soft and losing big games.

Literally no A&M fan has said this, most just think he will have us better than a bottom 10 defense in all of college football. HTH

All we heard was that Chavis didn't recruit
Really? Then y'all must not be listening.
I've heard all kinds of stuff, like Sumlin is over paid, the aggies have a losing record versus Arkansas and that y'all are rich but still can't field a championship team.
Oh yeah, and I heard aggies are gay.
Keep your ear to the ground and you should hear more than just Chavis didn't recruit.

Speak for yourself. Chavis is the GOAT defensive mind.

Give him a 1st round CB, 1st round DE and NFL talent at interior DL and he can and will do work

You're not so old after all, Sarge.
But way to celebrate your almost not losing record vs LSU.

It'll be in our favor soon

Enough to win. That's kind of the point.
The defenses that brought wins to LSU over the years damn sure out weighed a few losses. I mean shite, that 2011 defense was a freak of nature and that undefeated season was all on that nasty defense. The most points scored on y'all that year was freakin Oregon.......
Chavis saved Les' inept offenses more than the offense bailed out the defense over the last few years.

That team was littered with legit NFL talent.

No argument here. I'm just saying that as bad as the offense has been we've still been in position late to win some big games and it was the defense that failed. Take the Bama game this year for instance. We had no business being in a close game with that team and we had the lead in the last 2 minutes. The entire stadium was nervous because we had seen that story play out the last time they were in Tiger Stadium and sure enough, right down the field.

Oh, don't get me wrong, Chavis will make A&M infinitely better on defense from day 1. Their issue is they need to get some players in that secondary to make his scheme work. That has very little to do with Chavis. LSU has benefited greatly from some incredible DB recruiting and development.

Yeah, you just answered this yourself. People have been calling for Les' head over the offense for 4 years now.

The thing is, so many LSU fans seem to think A&M can't get DB recruits. Why is this? A&M already has 3 four-star DB recruits committed, as well as one JUCO DB who had offers from Bama, Auburn, Georgia etc. Not to mention the state of Texas is literally teeming w/ DBs thanks to the proliferation of spread offenses.
And why does the success of LSU's secondaries, recruiting and development, have little to do w/ Chavis? LSU has had two different DB coaches during Chavis's tenure. They certainly deserve some of the credit, but since the common denominator is Chavis, it seems curious to insist he had no impact on their performance.

maybe lsu has a better support staff that gets the players while he sits on his arse?

Gotta coach them.

LSU had two of the best DB coaches/recruiters in Cooper and Raymond. Chavis doesn't coach the DBs at all. He only calls the schemes.

Chavis is a great hire. The issue is whether A&M can reverse the softness of their team. I'm not sure if that is Sumlin's influence or not. Something is wrong when your run defense is ranked in the 100s.

So it's the offenses fault for leaving more than 1 minute on the clock when giving the defense the lead? Got it.

That plays a kinda big role in determining how the DBs perform...
