They view God himself as their only rival. No one has beat them in 20 years or is capable of beating them. They only lose when they beat themselves.

The Vols are Bama's traditional rival. Tennessee is historically the second most successful team in the SEC, with Bama being first. Auburn is, well....just Auburn.

As a young Vol fan who grew up in the middle of the Florida rivalry at its best, I still consider Alabama the biggest rival we have. Always will. Just like my daddy and his daddy before him

From an Outsider perspective, Auburn is viewed as Bama's #1 Rival and its not even close. I know the Vols sucked for an entire decade ,but even now I bet the Iron Bowl will get more TV views. Hell, I bet Bama vs LSU will get more TV viewership this year despite the VOLs being a top 10 team.

When an opposing teams coach is afraid to come into your state because he doesn't want to be served a subpoena and that team has to have extra security around its mascot, that's a rivalry.
The late 90s and early '00s were crazy times in the TSIO rivalry.
Killing mascots and trees or basically anything living is going too far though.
