I'm a little older and we had season tickets when I was growing up during the Wimp days. Those games were fun as hell to go to, and the entire SEC was playing at a pretty good level.

The difference in atmosphere in Coleman is night and day, at least it was the last game I went. Forget who we played(Miss St maybe), but it was a Saturday afternoon in January and the place wasn't even half full. I could hear the players jawing on the court from my seats. Sad.

I care about March Madness because I usually have money on the line.

Other than that, no. Probably because no one around here cares about bragging rights re: basketball.

I would say that I couldn't care less, but every year I seem to set a new low. Don't rail me for being an auburn fan because I used to listen on the radio (yes, most games used to not be televised) during the Tommy Joe years. I think I attended most every game while I was in school too.

To me, the SEC brand is awful and gets worse yearly. College basketball has gone down and the NBA has as well. I attribute it to the one and dones (or 2 year and done) because they don't learn the fundamentals in college and then don't possess the fundamentals in the NBA. Why do you think the NBA has become such an international game with international players? No one in the US practices the fundamentals. It is street ball and athleticism in the US and that is it. Kobe is thankful everyday for NOT growing up in the US because he said he learned how to play the game in Europe.

I haven't watched a game this year and I used to set my schedule around big matchups and would watch most SEC games.

I'll be completely honest, my interest is waning.

And before you go balls out flaming, it has nothing to do with the quality of Missouri's team.

I'd feel this way if we had a team on the level of Kentucky. I just can't get into it, I used to really look forward to it. Now, it's just something I check out in passing.

Maybe it's the move to the SEC, but I suspect that it has more to do with the quality of play on the court.

Anyone else feel this way, I mean, I want to care, but frick I'd rather watch Ancient Aliens.

It is what it is.

I think regular college basketball season has been painfully boring and unintriguing about the last 10 years. I don't know why but I suspect the 1 and done rule has really hurt. It doesn't have anything to do with you guys moving to the SEC either imho. The SEC was a very good basketball league throughout the 70s, 80s, 90s, and even the early half of the 00s. The SEC (and college basketball as a whole) peaked in the 80s and 90s imho because you had big names and future NBA players all over the court that were there at least 2 or 3 seasons. Nearly all of those players are now gone after only one year in college.

This is not true.

Because the international talent has gotten better as more kids grow up watching and playing the game.

And there are plenty of American NBA stars that are fundamentally sound. They just don't get the press the "stars" get.

I was reading some stuff on twitter how a bunch of the local AAU teams were dominating some massive national tournaments.

Hell people can hate on LeBron as much as they want, but the guy is a fundamental as you can get. Same as KD.

Durant has been able to keep is scoring up, while also being in the 50 40 90 club. That is insane.

I know my interest has started to wane. I don't like the direction the game is moving in with the new officiating changes. I don't like the 1 and dones. I don't like so many transfers everywhere.

I also know a big part of it for me is that Missouri doesn't have it's traditional basketball rivals. I just don't get nearly as excited for UF, Arky, Kentucky, Ole Miss as I did for kU, I-State, Okie Lite, K-Stat, Texas, etc.

Even in bad years, Missouri and those schools had so much history that the games were entertaining and fun.

I haven't felt that way about football because the competition in the SEC is just a lot better. But, when you go from better competition to worse competition (generally speaking) and lose the rivalries, I just don't care too much.

Another thread showed that not a single school in the SEC has had more than one one and done other than Kentucky in the last 5 years. Why is this such an issue for people when their team never actually deals with this issue.

This.

Also, Kawhi Leonard says hi. That guy is a paradigm of fundamentals and is from the "hood."

Because the people who say it are usually just looking for any reason to dislike basketball.

Or are overly nostalgic about days gone by.

I.e., the ppl who say nothing is as good as when Jordan was playing.

Our teams feature the definition of fundamentals in Timmy, Marc, Zbo, and Tony Parker.

I think you missed the 80/90s, the true golden age of the NBA. Other than Moses Malone, I think we got to see most of those guys compete multiple years in the NCAA tournament and got to know them before they were cocky arrogant millionaires.

Kobe is an 80/90s player in the modern world. I just wish he could go out on top.

The NBA and the NFL both suck these days. Overpaid spoiled brats/thugs (some are both, some are one or the other, few are neither).

For clarity - thug isn't skin tone related to me. Birdman is a thug.
