I'm not a huuuge fan of him either but he's a staple of Arkansas media. On highlight clips or hype videos he's money.

Him and Keith Jackson botched 4th and 25, lol. They were as surprised as everyone else. I think they kept expecting it to get called back

Eli Gold and Snake Stabler were awesome, especially when Bama sucked and Snake was obviously drunk. Gold would try to put a positive spin on something and Snake would respond with blunt reality. It hasn't been the same since the fired him.

Sinanju is not lying. Eli is so hard to listen to.

Eli "Hand off up the middle... BIG HOLE... it closes quick.. second and 8..."

What?

And how hard is it to give down, distance and field position? A few years back Bama is in a tight game. They are punting around midfield and it is blocked. It was third down before Eli gave us the spot on the field.

The funny thing is I once heard him doing an NFL game. He was great. I don't know what happens when he calls for Bama.

I like Eli, but man do I miss hearing Kenny in the booth with him. Drunk arse couldn't name any of the players on the field, so he just made up ones.

Eli is sadly beyond terrible these days. Love the guy to death but his play by play is dreadful.

Does anyone rememeber when Eli Gold did the Alabama Basketball games?

It was impossible to follow. He was eventually replaced.

A&M. Dave South has a rich oratorical style somewhat reminiscent of the great John Ferguson, who was the football/ basketball lead for LSU radio from the early 60s to the mid 80s.

This.

Trust me, as an AU grad and Tech fan, I can truly give an objective opinion: Munson was, is, and always will be the standard by which all college football play-by-play announcers will be judged.

No one - I reiterate, No. One. - was better at calling a close game between evenly-matched teams. And it was impossible not to get excited when UGa was driving in the final moments with the game on the line, even when you were pulling against them.

He was simply the best.

Cawood Ledford was the greatest! We could pick up WHAS 840 in Shreveport at night, and I actually grew to love Kentucky basketball and follow the bad football teams during the John Ray regime, thanks to Cawood!

Chris Stewart does a pretty good job as the play-by-play analyst for basketball. Will never forget him calling an Alabama basketball game shortly after Brodie had been sacked 11 times by Auburn. Can't remember who it was, but he was having a great defensive game and blocking shots. Stewart followed it up with something like "that's his 4th block of the night, which gives him more than Chris Capps had against Auburn".

Actually a video of his call vs Tennessee when Anthony Brock hit a half-court buzzer beater. It's awesome.

I dislike our current guy, Bob Kesling. John Ward was and is still a Tennessee treasure. Guy went out on top with the '98 championship. The most prepared guy both football and hoops.

I cant stand Eric Zeier as color guy on UGA. Dude is a whiner homer. Thats ok. its the home broadcast, but dude can be annoying as frick. I do listen to dogs on radio when driving and I cant get an AU game on Satellite.

Rod bramlett is pretty good. No jim fyffe but he's good.

Rod has had his signature moments. I like him. Jim was a friggin legend though. I have often thought how much he would have loved both the 2013 UGA game and the Bama game endings. Rod did a great job with both. Especially the kick six. Fyffe calling the 2010 Natty game, especially at the end would have been simply E P I C.

LINK

Link above talks about some of the best. Worth the time to read.

Jack Cristil was a true football fan's man. He was great on the air, and had a never-ending sharp wit in person. I'm not a State fan, but I've been known to turn off a game or two just to listen to the best that ever was.

I heard the Sonic Drive of the Game call in real time at the hunting camp. Classic call of all time.

Joe Fisher for Vandy is pretty good. He's pretty good at keeping listeners informed of down and distance, field position, etc.
