You DO realize that claiming to be UGA's big brother because of that fluke tip play, and then posting an image of an auburn poster that says "Georgia On Our Mind" is one of the MOST Li'l Bro moves that the rant has seen in recent years...

who gave an excuse as to not winning one ... uga fans clearly want to win one. but this thread is not about that ..

and when it comes to head to head recently we have beaten aubie and gt more than they have beaten us ...that is just FACT!

Sigh all you want, we're 23-2 in the last 25, Baylor should be thanking us for leaving.

We left the door open for you to take advantage of a down texas.

And A&M fans wondered why I said their Super Bowl is National Signing Day, because to A&M fans winning recruiting battles is more important than wins on the field

No team in the last decade has won a national title without a couple of top ten recruiting classes on the roster. Oregon came close, but couldn't do it.

Talent is a bigger glass ceiling to the TCUs and the Baylors of the world than the committee will ever be. And it used to be our glass ceiling too, so we are still enjoying that change in our program's potential.

I would think a poster with gay dads in his avatar would understand A&M a little better.

I'm trying to think of a "little brother type" school that is actually the big brother in a state. That is, a school that isn't the main state school that has out performed the state school. Think about all the rivalries and records:

Alabama-Auburn
USC-UCLA
Oregon-Oregon State

and so on.

The one I've found that the "little brother" is better than the "big brother" - more head to head wins, championships, better known, better history, etc - at least in football, is...

wait for it...

Clemson-South Carolina.

Edit: Blergh. I should have put this in the other "L'il Bro" thread. So I did. So now it's both places. So, whatever.

Okie State is on a LSU kick right now. First the Gundy comment about 2011, and then the "We are going to take the DBU title back" comment. It's kind of weird.

Gundy is in hot water with The Oil King that owns OkSt and he has to beat the Miles drum as much as possible to try and remind people how he came to the rescue when Miles bolted. Trying to re-live that feeling and get the boosters to feel it again.

Best example in the modern era is Virginia Tech.

This makes no sense talking about Auburn. We will always be Big Bro in our state of Georgia. Tech and the mutts will continue to suck hind tit.

How much of that has to do with recruiting and how much of that has to do with the system in place for crowning a champion?

The 2010/2014 TCU teams didn't even get a chance to play for the title.

I think Missouris getting there too. They're pretty much the little bro to the entire west. They've had some success in the east and won the last two east titles but no one from the west seriously acknowledges them as a threat or as those titles being huge success. It's funny to see their fans get so upset about the topic but at the same time it'll always be true and they'll never compare to the big powerhouses. Their fans think and want them to be like the powerhouses so bad it's kind of hilarious.

But there's always the obvious answer in a&m lol

All A&M, all the time.

I guess I would be too if my team hadn't beaten A&M since Nixon was in office.

Sure they did.

1. Don't be a tiny shitty private school.

2. Don't blow a 21-point 4th quarter lead vs. Baylor.

Seeing as how Oregon has gotten into the "system in place" twice without good recruiting only to hit a glass ceiling I am going to put my money on the recruiting being the issue.

Jimmies and Joes over Xs and Os is as old as football.

Neither did all those Boise St teams. That is what they have to deal with being in a conference that isn't nationally respected with a brand not nationally respected.

Someone like OU doesn't worry about that, they win the Big 12 and their brand is nationally respected. We don't worry about it, as if we actually ever win the SEC we will be in the playoffs most likely because the conference is respected.

College football is about as fair as the Indian Caste System. We Aggies didn't make the rules, we are just trying to do the best we can with what we have. Which in our case is a strong SEC brand that we can use to get better talent than more successful programs (recently) like a TCU.

Any sport that the state of Alabama dominates has to be a little fricked up. It is funny more people don't recognize this when they bitch about conference realignment or bowl matchups.

No team since Rivals began posting rankings in 2002 has ever won a national title without at least one top five class on its roster. (Rivals rankings 2002-2009, 247 rankings 2011-2015)

2002 season: Ohio State (5-2002)
2003 season: LSU (1-2003)
2004 season: USC (3-2004)
2005 season: Texas (1-2002)
2006 season: Florida (2-2003, 2-2006)
2007 season: LSU (2-2004, 4-2007)
2008 season: Florida (2-2006, 1-2007, 3-2008)
2009 season: Alabama (1-2008, 1-2009)
2010 season: Auburn (4-2010)
2011 season: Alabama (1-2008, 1-2009, 5-2010, 1-2011)
2012 season: Alabama (1-2009, 5-2010, 1-2011, 1-2012)
2013 season: Florida State (2-2011)
2014 season: Ohio State (5-2012, 2-2013, 3-2014)

Judging by that, your 2015 national champion will be one of the following teams.

Alabama (1-2012, 1-2013, 1-2014, 1-2015)
Texas (2-2012)
Florida State (3-2012, 4-2014, 3-2015)
Florida (4-2012, 3-2013)
Ohio State (5-2012, 2-2013, 3-2014)
Michigan (4-2013)
Notre Dame (5-2013)
frickLSU (2-2014, 5-2015)
Texas A&M (5-2014)
USC (2-2015)
Tennessee (4-2015)

Now that doesn't mean that teams without those types of classes won't make the playoffs, but none of the Oregons, TCUs, Baylors, etc. will win the title.

IN FACT: Not a single team who won a title post-BCS won their first ever title.

No real disagreement, impossible to know who would win games that never happened. but the top dog in the state is currently TCU. last year it was Baylor. 2012 it was A&M. Final rankings are final. Why can't we just agree anyone is better than texas?

Since 1972, TCU and Baylor have a combined 6 wins vs. A&M...all Baylor.

I can't even imagine how many schools would claim national titles yearly if the criterion was pick-a-year-to-start-your-aggregated-ranking
