4ea 4-team pods. The winner of each pod play an SEC championship semi-final game. Play the 3 teams in your pod, and rotate 2 teams from each of the other 3 pods. Best way to do it period.

I don't think that works given one of the metrics the SEC wants to use is to preserve the longest traditional rival games. You can't preserve UF/UGA, UGA/Auburn, Auburn/Bama and Bama/TENN with 4 team pods and there is no way there will be a 4 team POD with any combination of the "5 teams" listed above to ensure most of the traditional rivals.

I want divisions, either 2 divisions or 4 pods/divisions

I don’t like a clump of 16 teams where it’s impossible to play everyone. I like a divisional model.

16+ teams with no divisions is not sustainable IMO. You’ve got to split it up, which I’m sure they will. And I predict they’ll add an SECCG semifinal as well if they ever move to 4 divisions.

Seems pretty straight-forward and logical to me.

Why didn’t we do this for 2024?? Have too many people “over-thought” this?

Why? Just combine 2 groups each year & the winners go to SECCG.

Y1 - AB winner vrs. CD winner
Y2 - AC winner vrs. BD winner
Y3 - AD winner vrs. BC winner

Not to mention NONE of those games will be dropped, non-conf., nor "every other year".

The more I think about it, I’m leaning towards two 8-team divisions.

Not opposed to the pods, I just think it’s more digestible/logical to have 2 divisions. No idea why they didn’t do that for 2024.

I’m tired of divisions, shuffle it up and share the misery. We can’t have much worse of a conference schedule than we had this year.

Well, which way will it be:
A - 4 pods but keep all annual rivalry games
B - 2 divisions but keep all annual rivalry games
C - no divisions but keep all annual rivalry games (*requires new tie-breakers to help sort)?

Ain't exactly easy...ESPECIALLY with the new "push" for 4 year full rotation.

Honestly, I have no idea how/why this came about.

My vote is B
(I reserve the right to change my opinion lol)

I’ll tell you what I DONT like…. One 16-team division. As someone earlier said, there is some fun/pride/achievement in winning a division/pod, and that is totally eliminated with no divisions.

Whether it’s East v West or Dem vs Rep or North vs South or AFC vs NFC or AL vs NL that “battle” against the other side seems fun to me

If you think about it, as conferences grow, pods or divisions WILL HAVE TO RETURN to help with scheduling/ranking.

Could deal with that or:

Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri
LSU, A&M, OM, MSU
Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Vanderbilt
Georgia, Florida, Auburn, South Carolina

I guess it's all about ratings otherwise Arkansas/LSU and Mizzou/OU make a lot more sense historically and culturally. Hogs had the LSU game given first to the Aggies and now to OU. Doesn't seem right.

A 3/6 model just makes too much sense, so I'm sure they'll find a way to frick it up.

It preserves all the historical/traditional rivals that everyone wants to keep, you will play every team in the SEC at a minimum every2 years, and you'll complete a full home/home series with every team in teh league in a 4 year period. It truly checks all the boxes.

I think we'll end up there, but first the SEC has to get ESPN to sweeten the deal for an extra conference game. As is always the case now, it's about the Benjamins.

No way they split up the Texas teams if they do go four team pods, simply won't happen.

If two teams from the same state are in the same conference and don't play each other every year, the system is very broken.

The system has been broken by the addition of four teams. Every solution on the table is broken in important ways.

We aren't getting all of these annually going forward::
Alabama vs Auburn
Alabama vs Tennessee
Auburn vs Georgia
Georgia vs Florida
Florida vs LSU
LSU vs Alabama
LSU vs Ole Miss
LSU vs MSU
Alabama vs MSU
MSU vs Ole Miss
Tennessee vs Vanderbilt
Georgia vs Kentucky
Tennessee vs Kentucky

Anyway Arkansas would rather play Texas than LSU and A&M would rather LSU than Texas so that switch made sense. Plus makes better geographic sense with Arkansas the geographic center of the northern group (Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas) and LSU the center of the more southern (Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi).
