A guy I've flown with has modified his to fire 22 cal. and he targets very accurately through his OSD. I would love to see someone shoot at him with a paintball gun. I have also successfully launched a model rocket sideways from mine using a pulse switch and the onboard 12 volt power supply. With a little thought I could put some form of explosive in the nose. The drone community is way out in front of the "Imma shot dat fricker down if it crosses my property line" crowd.

You should probably be on a watchlist.

Retaliation to a paintball gun is a .22? You think that's appropriate? I have no problem with drones as long as they aren't being intrusive or annoying, but I would recommend against firing on someone with a .22 from a drone or otherwise because they shot a paintball round at it.

Drones are the next terrorist vehicle. They'll have massive appeal to those who aren't ready for their 72 virgins yet. Attach a small explosive device, pilot to any destination, detonate, and escape at a slow stroll.

Stadiums desperately need localized EMP capabilities to combat this.

Once that happens they'll be tough/impossible to legally buy - not that terrorists are concerned with legality.

You are way off here. Battery technology will simply not allow for a long range strike option on drones. I run mine on a combined 12,400 mAh of 14.8 volt LiPo power and at best can only manage around 17 minutes of flight time.

I never said I agreed with his rationale I just think it would be funny for someone to mess with him and get the surprise of their life when he shoots back. As far as pure fun though you can't beat a multi rotor. Regardless of your intentions they are fun to fly.

Who cares about the story?. I was focusing on the fact he shot it out of the air and your comment. The reason why means little to me.

There was a drone at the UT-Utah State game last year. I think it was in the no fly zone and the KPD investigated it.

Well, I'm glad to hear that.

I agree. I had one of the little cheap ones from Bass Pro or something like that. It was pretty fun. I might get a nice one for scouting on my hunting property someday.

Like I said, as long as my privacy and peace of mind are not overly bothered, have at it.

if you're near a lake, Google "Mariner drone". It's a waterproof drone with camera. Link feature didn't work just now or I would have linked

You should be able to find cool videos of a guy "flying" his with 2 propellers under water and two above

If it's a one way flight, I'd think a quarter mile distance and 5-10 minutes would suffice. Hopefully I am very wrong, but it seems like something evil losers would do.

I think the bad guys will use them to attack open air events.
1 oz of dirty material 5 oz of a c-4 type exp, you would have a mess.
5-10 minutes would be plenty of time.

Any of you remember the drone attack at the LSU tailgate at the Auburn game last year?

That is just torturing the fans from red stick.

A corndog just floating above them out of reach?

It's like hovering over a preteen girl with a Taylor Swift autograph.

I'm not sure why people are freaked out about drones. Unless it's a government spy program, I don't give a rats arse about someone getting video via drone.

We could start with a douche attaching something to it (like a piss balloon or worse), to a mechanical failure causing it to drop on a crowd. Nevermind an actual terrorist turning one into a weapon to explode remotely.

It's sad you have to consider shite like this, but it's the world we live in.

This is hard to believe. Do you actually think he would realize someone was shooting at it before it was on the ground in pieces

Also, shooting a drone doesn't deserve lethal retaliation from a .22 cal
