Pulling for Bama because they are in the SEC is like pulling for Satan because he's in the Bible.

Last night was the first time I have pulled for a non-SEC team in a bowl or NC game.

And it is the first time I have EVER pulled for OK. I have hated OK since the 50's.

But last night, I just wanted Alabama to lose - period.

IMO, LSU first but I would like to see the SEC win OOC games whether they are regular season or bowl games. Whether anyone likes it or not, they give credibility to our conference and it is the reason that one loss teams from our conference have still gotten consideration throughout the last several years. With playoff system coming, our OOC wins will mean even more and will probably help a one loss LSU team get into the mix. I did not cheer for Alabama last night but would have liked them to win.

This logic is what gave Alabama a rematch against us in 2011. But yea you go ahead and keep cheering on our rivals while they pile up national titles and pluck 5 stars from our state.

If we aren't in play for NC, why should we want a non SEC team to win? I don't understand the logic. I would like Auburn to win the NC and then beat the brakes of them in 2014.

Recruiting comes from regular season IMO. LF was between LSU and bama for example.

Again, I am not cheering for Auburn. I don't like them as much as the next LSU fan for the same reasons. I would prefer an SEC team win thier bowls. If the SEC lost every bowl game, do you think that would help or hurt LSU in general?

Completely agree. I was saying that a bowl game won't make or break a recruit.

The agrument that SEC teams losing thier bowls is somehow good for our program, is what does not make sense to me.

I pull for Bama in the bowl game for 3 reasons:

-SEC baby!
-Always have been and always will be a fan of Coach Saban
-With the new +1 system coming next year the SEC losing these big time bowl games potentially hurts the conference's chances of getting a 2nd team in.

I agree. SEC teams losing does not help LSU at all.
A bowl game isn't going to make or break a recruit. Coaching staff has MUCH more to do with getting a player.

Perceived strength of the SEC got Bama into the title game over Big-12 champ with the same record in 2011... If SEC teams lost more, maybe Ok State gets in the title game... Surely that would not have helped LSU at all.

You think Bama winning national titles and coming into Louisiana plucking 5 star recruits with unprecedented success is a coincidence?

Once again. I will NEVER NEVER NEVER root for a team against whom LSU recruits.

How can a BAMA victory over Oklahoma or Auburn National Championship directly help LSU get recruits or win football games?

You are talking about one season and one bowl game. Perceived strength is necessary for LSU to contend in the playoff system unless we go undefeated or win the SEC.
