Do the teams with the most TV draw deserve a higher cut of the SEC revenue?

To me, it doesn't seem fair that the teams who are the most marketable and watched in the country have to split the SEC TV revenue equally. Through week six, here are the most watched televised college football games to date:

1. ND-TEX (10.9M)
2. LOU-CLEM (9.3M)
3. OLE MISS-FSU (8.4M)
4. OLE MISS-BAMA (8.2M)
5. BAMA-USC (7.9)

Logically, Ole Miss and Bama deserve more of the pie. It's just not right that teams like Arkansas and Mississippi State get so much of the benefits from our superior brands while playing unwatched JUCO teams in non-conference play to boost their chances of possibly making a bowl game.

I know, "life isn't fair" and the more successful people have a more obligation to give charity to the less fortunate. I get that argument, but it still doesn't make it right.

So the revenue should fluctuate every game / season?

Every season yes. Based on total viewership. Gives teams more incentive to put out a good product.

If you want to be the next Big 12 you can do it this way

SEC and B1G are making money and stable because they both figured out a long time ago everyone has to be an equal member

The rich would get richer. Not good for the overall conference.

Bama would turn into the Texas of the SEC.

Doesn't have to be massive differences in paid out conference money. Just enough to encourage some competition for that top spot.

Came from the B12 where they tried to do this. This is how you end up with a dead/dumpster-fire conference.

Agreed - the rest of the conference will be requesting a refund from Ole Miss for the past 40+ years.

If this were the case Ole Miss would have never had the money to buy all the players they are about to get the death penalty for

What it gives is programs getting jealous or upset at an out of wack potential power balance and always falling behind in revenue.

Those programs end up leaving the conference

and you'd base that on tv viewership? some teams in this conference would always fall short, regardless of how good they are, and vice versa. for instance, notre dame and alabama will always have high tv ratings regardless of how good their teams may be. mississippi state and kentucky will always have poor rating regardless of how good they may be. this idea is a complete non-starter

One step closer to a super conference. We cut the dead weight and take others' premier teams.

Meh I rather keep the SEC

It happens that some teams bring in more money but thats the cost of holding it all together.

Ohio State had the 3 most watched games in college football last year. They didnt complain about sharing the revenue

This is a really horrible idea.

Let me put it this way. Right now Ole Miss is drawing some good TV numbers. You are greedy and want to cut a fat cow in the arse so to speak.

What happens when the inevitable decline in fortune happens and Ole Miss falls back to their standard viewing rates?

You get pennies and you would have to like it. That's just fricking brilliant there. Good thinking. Not to mention we all see what a great idea that was for the Big 12.
