I would like to hear the rest of the story before I pass judgement. When this happened I was very glad to see them off the team.
That being said, other teams in the conference seem not to have a problem with players who have been kicked off other teams. Just saying.

My question is why kick him off to begin with? Just suspend him for a season or something.

if Im not mistaken the school kicked them out, via a judicial review.
How did the university allow him to return

Pettway's attorney Jay Stuck released the following statement.
"While certainly disappointed in the University's decision announced earlier today, DJ wishes to convey his sincerest gratitude to everyone who has provided him assistance, guidance, and well wishes throughout this process. He wishes to express particular gratitude to his family and friends that have and continue to provide unwavering support.
"Although his journey at Alabama is over for now, DJ is excited about the opportunities that may present themselves as he moves forward with his studies and personal growth.
"DJ would like to convey to his teammates his sincerest disappointment in not being able to join them on the field as they prepare for the upcoming season. He also wants both his teammates and his coaches to know that he considers them all extended family members and that due to their friendship and support his time at Alabama has been the best of his life. He truly regrets any pain, distractions, or other problems that this incident has caused any of them.
"DJ is committed to putting this incident behind him and to proving to all of those fans, coaches, and teammates that were disappointed by this incident that it is not a reflection of the man he is. He has already learned a great deal from these issues and is eager to begin the long road of proving to his family, friends, coaches, teammates, and the fans of the University of Alabama that he is worthy of the trust and faith they placed in him.
"Due to the ongoing nature of the proceedings surrounding this incident, neither DJ nor his family will be commenting publicly. DJ hopes the media will respect this decision that was made on the advice of counsel. As this matter proceeds, DJ eagerly awaits his opportunity to present his side of the story."

The kid beat the shite out of one of your students. He can play football. Of course you don't have a problem with it.

I have no problem with Saban giving him a second chance. He did his time away from the program. I see nothing wrong with it.

He doesn't belong at UA.

Worst decision Saban's made at bama.

I have no problem with second chances. However, I do think it looks bad for the school that expelled the kid to be the one to do it. I'm glad Michael Dyer got a second chance, but I'm glad it wasn't with Auburn.

Just so I get this correct, the judicial board dismissed him from the University and now they are going against policy to allow him to return
quote:
University Expulsion - Separation of the student from the University permanently
or on an indefinite basis. A student permanently expelled is prohibited from
reapplying to the University in the future or from earning a degree from any of its
colleges or schools. Readmission of a student expelled on an indefinite basis may not
occur within five years and shall require the recommendation of the Vice President
for Student Affairs and approval of the Provost

Coming from another Bama fan, it makes me sick to think those students that were beaten and robbed now have to go watch one of those involved be cheered on by 100,000.

Yep it's one thing to transfer to another school but to allow him back to the same school where his victim or victims are still enrolled is ridiculous.
