Kudos to Watson on a great game, but at the end Alabama had more explosive playmakers than Clemson. Clemson on offense was a one man show.

No. They weren't. Their RB and the walk on WR did pretty well, too. Scott, their other WR did pretty well, too.

If not for Watson improvising, Clemson doesn't have a prayer in this game - looked like a young Mike Vick out there.

I do agree that Watson kept Clemson in the game and without him, Alabama would have won by 3 TD's.

For me the turning point was the onside kickoff, though. Clemson never seemed to recover from that.

If the roles were reversed can you imagine Alabama fan's reaction?

"Clemson didn't win, we lost it. We had 550 yards of offense, marching the ball up and down the field, just a couple blown coverages and two special teams mess ups cost us the game. Also we were missing our two best receivers and star secondary player. Our safety and special teams players just took horrible angles to the ball. It was clear we were the better team. You know, sometimes the better team doesn't win"

Seriously, I will punch anyone who says to me in person anything along the lines of "If you take away Deshaun Watson it's not close", that includes you Urban Meyer.

I understand what you are saying, but this is a true statement. Just as it is true that if Saban had never gone to Alabama they would not be this good..

Yes, it was simple. Clemson had the better game plan. Stop Henry, rattle Coker. And it worked well. I was surprised at the lack of offensive adjustments as OJ was open from the beginning and with Coker holding the ball too long we made no effort to give him short throws and I could not believe we never really tried to run Drake outside. Their D line dictated to us.

On defense we kind of crapped the bed when Deshaun started threading the needle to Renfrow(sp?). Those were amazing passes that were very well defended. We were collapsing/moving the pocket too, but he made fantastic plays to escape. We didn't spy him enough. More than once we had a lineman pull off like they expected a screen or something.

All that being said, when it came down to it the kick return TD and the onside kick were masterful plays. Much respect to Clemson. I would never have thought we could keep up in a track meet with them.

You do see that he was simply replying to someone who threw out s hypothetical first, right?

This what surprised me. I would have thought some quick slants or even screens would help. That fake handoff naked bootleg worked several times, too. You just didn't adjust very well to what the other team gave you.

Don't get me wrong, you guys won and deserved to win. I honestly thought you were the better team, but Clemson was off the chain. They played very well, never gave up and cause problems for Alabama all night.

Clemson saw 12 men with offensive production and Bama had 8. Stop this meme about Clemson being a one-man show. It's simple not accurate.

Clemson's secondary was exposed because they were keyed in to stop the run. Clemson simply didn't have the defensive talent to win.

Correct. Herbstreit or whomever kept harping on that all night and we never did. Clemson took away the WR outs and we just locked up.

This is it right here.

Anyone acting like Dabo forgot to tell his defense to cover eligible receivers is pretty dumb.

550 yards of offense and 40 points to your all-time great Defense

No one thought it would be a blowout

Because we give our analysis of a game? I dont see anything wrong with much of anything said in this thread by Bama fans. Nobody has said that Clemson didnt play a fricking helluva game. Nobody has said that we just beat them down. Someone got slammed for saying that Clemson was feeling the physical superiority of Bama in the second half.... well, correct me if I'm wrong but other than 2 or 3 of their playmakers, thats a dead on statement, especially in the 4th quarter. That is the only reason Alabama was able to close that game out the way it did in the final 6-7 minutes.

Coaching and execution got them to the last 7 minutes, slightly better conditioning allowed them to finish.

If only young men running around with a ball could make the rest of you winners. If only.

Right but why say something so obvious and stupid?

"Hey guys, if Derrick Henry didn't have legs he wouldn't be a very good running back". Great analysis moron.

Are we talking middle school kids here? Seriously, a 10-12 yrs ago Bama wasn't winning shite and the young and the old experienced it.

Only Bama can claim injuries going into a game, LMAO. Delusional Bammers can't even enjoy a victory without being doosh nuggets. GTFO
