Muschamp Defenses Per F+ (Defense Specific Starts 2007)
2007 - 10th
2008 - 6th
2009 - 5th
2010 - 31st
2011 - 33rd
2012 - 2nd
2013 - 17th
2014 - 12th
Average - 15th
Champ is a solid defensive coach in a league with a bunch of solid defensive coaches. Combine him with Malzahn and Auburn has a very good group on both sides of the ball, matching 2-3 other schools in the league.

frickin A, I miss Drake!

I think that is a very fair and reasonable assessment.
Auburn has lots of questions on offense next year, but hopefully the defense makes some significant strides.

My guess is Auburn's 2015 defense will look a lot like Alabama's did in 2007. Solid, fundamentally better, but still overmatched overall against really good offenses.
However, they will have Malzahn's offense, so a 35th or 40th ranked defense will be a stark improvement.

And didn't UF end up 4th in the country in defensive efficiency? 9th overall defense in the country in spite of underwhelming offense.
Next.

Bingo.
Not to mention Florida for the past three years ran the exact opposite of an up-tempo offense. We possessed the ball far longer than any other team out there in the 11 - 2 year. We held onto it, shortened the game, and thus gave the defense way better numbers than they should have had.
Any amount of "but look at these stats" are drowned by Georgia Southern.
Completed passes: 0
Total yards rushing: 450.
It was a frickin' FCS. No matter if your entire second string defense is playing, those kinds of numbers show that his ability to adapt is completely lost.
Auburn made a terrible, expensive hire.

Georgia Southern put up over 300 against maybe the greatest D ever in college, 2011 Bama. Poor example.
Anyway AU needs Muschamp to field a D in the top 30. We haven't had that since 2007 yet have still played in a couple of NC games with two SEC titles. I think Muschamp can handle that and will probably do a lot better than #30.

Cool fact tiger, although an even better would be that Florida lost to GA Southern....

It doesn't matter. They have no one on their defenses that can stop the Drake and King Henry.

So the defensive issues that aub has had over the past few years have ALL been bad defensive coordinators... Each of those coordinators were considered good coordinators in their previous positions, right? If they were not, why did aub hire them? I've never been a football coach, but do have some experience with troubleshooting. If I've replaced a circuit board 3 times(at least 3 previous DC's at aub in the past 5 or so years) with circuit boards that were considered good when they were in their previous position and still have same problem, I would look to some other source of the problem than the circuit board (DC). But that's me.

300 is acceptable for the most part -- that's about an average amount for either DI or II. 450 with zero passes completed is not.
Like I said earlier: Muschamp padded the hell out of his defenses' numbers by holding onto the ball every snap for as long as humanly possible. Look at the TOP for the last few years.
The one year where he didn't do something like that -- he got plastered by 672 yards.

yes but Boom will also be able to practice during inclement weather at AU. I imagine losing 4 days a week to thunderstorms had to have killed his momentum.
I'm not going to read 4 pages of drivel, but this stood out to me. Does UF not have an indoor facility?

Yeah. With probably the least talented team he's had since he was at Toledo, and the least talented Bama team since 1970.
So you're saying that Saban only wins when he out-talents the other team on both sides of the ball?
Interdasting...

*He also lost to Ga. Southern.
*Led UF to it's first losing season since 1979. *Ended Florida's 22 year bowl streak.
*Gave up the most yards ever by a UF football team, 672 vs Bama.
*Lost 2 games while holding the other team to less than 120 yds of offense.
*Lost a homecoming game to Vanderbilt.
And I'm sure I forgot some other embarrassing stat.
Good riddance.

Don't forget getting absolutely throttled by Missouri on Homecoming.
Shitting the bed in the Sugar Bowl to Louisville who carved up his defense like a holiday ham.
Nearly lost to ULL a few years ago, needed a blocked punt to save himself from going to overtime.
"This was Florida's first losing season since 1979. Muschamp again had a losing record in the SEC, 3-5. This made Muschamp the first Gators coach to have two losing SEC records since the 1950s."
"The first was a homecoming to Vanderbilt (their first loss to Vanderbilt since 1988 and first at home since 1945)." - More on Vandy.
Muschamp led the Gators to a 7–6 record overall and a 3-5 record in the SEC. This was the first losing conference record for the Gators since 1979.
He has literally broken every horrible record dating back before I was born.
He also inherited a defense chalk full of talent -- Meyer had a top 20 defense every year. Top ten several years -- so his one "accomplishment" is overshadowed.

I've never seen so much worthless stat drumming between two schools that don't even play each other for like another 4 years or whatever. Auburn hired a coach you fired, who cares? Did you want the guy to go jobless for a few years as a punishment?

Boom is a great DC. He shut down Florida's offense the last four years.

No, but I don't want to hear about how he's a great frickin' hire he hasn't done dick.
Except break all of the worst records available for our university.
