this story just shows how worried the rest of the SEC (particularly Bama) is. First it was the 'send him to the pro's' movement and now this. It's great, more motivation for LF7 as if he needed anymore.

If anyone truly believes there is an NCAA issue to this, there objectively is only one reason. You don't want to see a great player not on your team succeed. There is literally no other reason.

I hope the whole thing is BS.

And there it is. Someone trying to make this a thing. It took awhile, but you knew it would come. People who live in Luther Davis's D.J. Fluker shouldn't throw Antonio Langhams. I Means it.

My point is that the success of this apparrel company is irrelevant. It is not the profits from the merchandise that is under question. It is the illegal benefit of a company building a $30,000 website for $10,000 (that has yet to be paid) due to LF7's athlete status and promises of future business dealings with LF7.

Quick, send this the NCAA immediately, I'm sure they just overlooked this point when they cleared him last year.

Here's the problem with that whole thing. The owners of that company aren't dealing with the Fournette's directly so all Leonard has to say is he has no idea what went on. Have you people learned nothing from Cam Newton? Sheesh.

I thought that loophole was closed.

This money was not repaid.

The Fournette family was not given money.

They were billed by businesses that were building a website and printing up T-shirts/hats. The businesses provided a discount.

I guess the NCAA could argue that the discounts wouldn't have been given to just any LSU student and therefore constitute an "extra benefit". But it was all shut down before he ever played a down for LSU and collecting that debt is a matter for the courts. Apparently the businesses involved have already written it off and should probably go after him when he hits the NFL.

And I agree with the assertion that this is the bigger problem:

quote:

Lory Fournette described Price as “one of the managers we have."

Otherwise, I think we're in the clear here. Dumb business decisions by parents don't automatically mean loss of eligibility for Leonard.

Bama has been busy this week. First they paid off the playoff committee and now they force USA Today to write an article about Fournette.

Most powerful school in the country.

the reason this story is coming out now is because USA Today understands the perfect storm for page clicks

I don't know what that has to do with Bama being scared but you people do believe nighttime gives your team special powers so.....
