Malzhan likely would have taken just about any BCS job. Remember he was like Auburn's third choice

Gus did not take the Auburn job until Arkansas hired Bert. He was waiting to come home but that didn't work out for him.

They were hired on the same day.

Damn you dumb son. Do you every say anything that makes any sense or is factually accurate? Seems like every post you make is some combination of stupid and incorrect.

Gus was in fact offered an SEC HC position after the 2010 season. Last I checked, the SEC is part of the BCS.

No, he was not. He was about the 3rd choice of the fanbase, but the fans are not calling the shots.

This. Did not want, still don't want Gus.

There are a long line of coaches who win year 1 and are fired a few years later because they can't sustain success. I'll take a guy with a proven track record to win over time.

Yes he was. Auburn threw everything they had at Sumlin and Jimbo Fisher. Both declined

Do you expect the auburn administration to come out and say they tried to hire Sumlin and Fisher? And how are those links any different than your "Malzhan to Vandy" link?

Mine cites actual meetings that took place from a legit news source.

Yours are rumors from fanbase run websites.

Nothing in that article about Sumlin indicates Auburn offered Sumlin.

The Fischer one, AU may have been in talks but I dont believe an offer was ever on the table. Just saying, and Id like to have a link to this.

I'm sure phone calls were made to gauge interest... We'd have been dumb not to. But in terms of actual, legitimate candidates, Malzahn was #1 from the start.

Can't believe this thread went for 7 pages. I thought Arky made a huge mistake when they hired him and he has thus far confirmed it. You got everybody and his brother coming to Texas looking for recruits along with Arky. He has the charisma of a carrot and he should start eating more of them.
