I am not trying to say that making the change then was a great idea. I am just saying that anyone who thinks that it had anything to do with the lousy QB play is kidding themselves. Schurmur isn't good. That simple. The only advantage he has over Freebeck is that he typically more protective of the ball.

Think that's a fair take.

Mason thinks he's Steve Spurrier.

Mason is going to make some major program very happy as a DC once Vandy fires him.

Funny thing is Muschamp had nearly the same gameplan as Derek Mason. He just had a better kicker.

i don't know why he didn't call time out (or call one sooner, can't remember) after south carolina's last 3rd down of the game.

whether sc missed or made the last FG, you're going to want as much time as possible on the clock to work with.

He also used a time out right after SC called one. Seemed like a waste of a timeout to me.

I'm hoping it is at Ole Miss once Wommack hangs them up. Otherwise he's probably headed out west.

Also they change quarterbacks seemingly every series

This was funny to me, especially watching Mason's post game comments talking about how Shurmur never got a rhythm. He said rhythm at least six times. Well no shite he didn't, you kept switching him out!

He's a great DC and a very bad HC. If Vandy fires him he will have job offers within seconds.

His game management is terrible. You only get so many series on offense. He wastes them. Clock management is also something he seems to ignore. Vandy players need to stop acting like "oh no, here we go again." when the other team comes back on them. They start sulking around and acting like a loss is inevitable. (although it is most of the time, they don't need to think that way)

No pro could have said it better. Also, it needs noting the official attendance was only 30,304 and 10,000-12,000 were Gamecock fans.

The Tennessean is flat busting Mason's testicles.
