I think JP was trying to run to the right and was getting blocked by the Alabama LB.
That should've been a penalty on Alabama.

Is it a pick if it's not done anywhere near the ball? The Alabama defender didn't have a chance to catch the ball and the ball was not thrown in his area.
So it's not pass offensive interference unless Coates all of a sudden showed up there and Marshall threw it to Coates.
It's different than the two plays I showed before from the 2009 IB where the Alabama players cleared out the area with picks so that the WR could catch the ball and convert two 3rd downs.

That is probably what happened. PI on bama. Ref's sure missed that one. What do you expect from SEC ref's? They give bama every break possible.
