I hope so. It's a reasonable number. 4 teams out of 5 power conferences is a LONG way from being a "playoff".

There is unfairness in any system, no matter what you do. Having a Final 8 play it out will diminish the unfairness.

I agree, but if the system had more set rules it would help. If all parties knew going in that conference champs got in everybody would have a shot. The last 3 spots would be subjective and we know it would be a beauty contest like the last 100 years of college football but the majority of those in the playoff would have earned their way into the playoff.
The other 3 would leave plenty of room to generate talking heads, website hits, etc…it would be a win, win.

Kanell probably does not like the SEC but looks to me like his antagonist role is being manufactured. I noticed Finebaum more or less talking smack about Kanell after having him on his show and I thought then it was a directive from the station.
