ESPN is propping him up as the heal for the SEC Network.
Seriously, I post this all the time on here. Because of stuff like the above statement (ESPN using broadcasters to play a role) I refuse to watch anything on their regular channels other than live games.
I do admit to watching ESPN Classic and I'm tuning in to a few things on the SEC Network.

That dude sucks. May be one of the only unifying truths for all of us.
I can't wait until this troll culture dies down some. It's not entertaining, its annoying.

Thinking of any asinine reason to keep the SEC from having two teams in the playoff.
To be fair, he keeps using the SAME reason: he believes conference championships should be valued very highly.
So, in BOTH cases (Bama last season and UF before), he was saying a conference champ should be selected over the other.
He even pointed out that Bama's loss was "late", thus harder to overcome.
One can disagree with his position of Conference Champ being so highly valuable. But, he is being consistent.
He did say "SEC Champ" is a sure thing for one spot, etc.

Meh. He's a douche and I don't like him.

Karma could be a true bitch if Bama meets his beloved FSU in the playoffs and sends them home. Wonder how he would spin that?

It's every day with him. It's embarrassing.

I understand that argument, and I'm ambivalent to it. On the one hand, you can't get mad at Ohio State for playing the cards that they were dealt in terms of conference schedule. On the other hand, you can't pretend that all conferences are created equal, because they clearly aren't.
FSU had a two-game schedule last year. TWO. Yes, I know that they won the BCS Championship Game, but were they genuinely the best team in the country? No, probably not. They weren't battle tested.

People better listen to this man. There is going to be a large number of SEC fans shocked and disappointed when the four playoff teams are all conference champions.
But it will be interesting when there is a one loss SEC team that lost its division praying for the Gators to beat Florida State.

2 undefeated conf champs in.
6 teams with one loss one being an SEC team that lost to the undefeated SEC champ, better be fuggin in.

If the 4 teams are the conference champs, there's still one conference champ being left out. I hate that there are 4 teams and 5 major conferences. Lets just do 8 teams. All 5 conference champs plus 3 wild cards.

Kanell is a homer. And SVP even called him out on it. I laugh at his ridiculous comments then realize why he says them and laugh even harder.

Florida State
SEC champ
Now there are two spots left for three power conferences, ALL of whom have at least two teams currently in the preseason top ten.
Don't let all the SEC publicity fool you. When the committee members get behind closed doors, there will be tremendous pressure to pick the conference champs.

I agree they don't want it to happen, but there are some situations where it would be unavoidable.

I hope you're right. I think it will have to be more or less unavoidable for it to happen.

His stance on conference championships isn't unreasonable. If you can't win your conference you likely shouldn't get a shot for a national title in a limited playoff. I used to be against 8 teams, but 5 conference champions, the best non-qualifier team and the two best teams remaining seems like the future. Alabama may have beaten LSU in 2011 but it was unfair they didn't have to win against Georgia to earn a spot.

Oklahoma wins the Big 12 with a loss to Kansas State who has a 10-2 record. Georgia's only loss is to an undefeated LSU in the SECCG. Who goes?
