Why is that? If someone lied about my father on TV and I had a bully pulpit, I'd sure come to my dad's defense.

Here is a great article on Dak and his family, recruitment, interviews with high school coaches, etc. He seems to be a very well adjusted young man from this story.

LINK

excerpt:

quote:

Only that Haughton carried a big lead heading into the final quarter of a district game. The reserves took the field, and Prescott conspired on the bench. The team huddled at one end of the bench.

"What in the world are they doing?" Brotherton said. "Dak's in the middle of it."

Haughton honored its manager Kyle Brister before the game. Brister, who has autism, was managing his final game before moving away.

Prescott "got the whole team together to carry him off the field on their shoulders," Brotherton said. "It made that kid's life. The football team carried him off on their shoulders his last game. And Dak organized that."

The point is not whether his dad is involved with him or not. The issue is fricking shitty arse Gary Danielson feeling the need to demean Prescott once again in public. Every game Gary and Verne have covered Gary has not had one positive thing to say about Dak or State. I hope he dies of cancer. I really do.

What was said? It's one thing to say that Dak's father abandoned him and his brothers, and that he didn't help their mom raise the kids. It's another thing to simply say that Dak's mother worked hard to support her kids on her own. I realize the difference is subtle, but there is a tactful way to recognize Dak's mother's efforts without necessarily demeaning Dak's father.

Was it even Danielson who said it? I thought he called the LSU v. Bama game.

What did he say that was negative about Dak? He seems to be universally well thought of, as far as I can tell. Whatever happened between his parents, Dak had nothing to do with that. How could that be used to "demean" him? I'm just curious because he seems like a genuinely likeable guy.

Don't get between a man and his chiluns. What problems they might have had will get resolved if they want.

He talked about himself for like ten minutes and sounded kind of insecure in his defense of the situation, I give it 8/10 Finebaums

Did you know that Mark Ingram's father was in prison? Gary and Verne want you to know that, too.

Why do they have to mention family involvement at all? It was a great story that they did on Prescott's mother and it told a lot about this kid and how much he loved her and was loved by her, but if the father was not involved why mention him at all. He had no right to say anything negative about this player's family.
Gary and Verne did this for 3 years with Mark Ingram. They had to mention each game that his father was in jail. Once was enough, and what did that have to do with how Mark was playing? It wasn't like his family didn't take up the slack. They traveled for 8 hours each home game to see Mark play and his mother and grandparents were there to see him win the Heisman, so he was well supported.

I agree with this.
