This thread needs to be deleted and somebody needs to start a new one with all relevant info in the OP.

This is an abortion of a thread, but I can't say I'm surprised because OP actually listens to the Finebaum Show.

Alright confused people. Here's what happened.

During the Auburn-Texas A&M game on CBS this past Saturday, one of the announcers made a comment about Dak's father being a non-factor in his life. It was a shitty comment to make even if true.

DGAF.. I just informed the fricking board that it happened, even after I checked to see if it had already been posted..I'm not holding a gun to your head so don't click on the damn thread!

You understand my criticism? Until halfway down 2nd page, 90% of the board wouldn't have known what this thread was about.

Luckily someone (not you) has summarized this issue for those of us unaware.

I saw a clip a few weeks back on one of the broadcasts where they did a really good background on Dak, his mom, and his sister I think. Him stiking the Heisman pose in the driveway as a little kid, etc. They interviewed Dan Mullen who said he dealt 100% with Dak's mom during recruitment and he kept in contact directly with her after Dak came to campus. Talked about the coaches finding out about her death and having to tell Dak, etc.

Basically made no mention whatsoever of any relationship with this father, showed and made no comments about the man. So I assumed his dad was out of the picture and played no part in his upbringing. Maybe Gary thought the same thing?

CBS should apologize though if they don't have any facts to back up what was said.

It's a shitty thread with a turrible OP.

If people are asking variations of "what the frick is this thread about" for 2 pages then it needs to be deleted.

Sorry you're an idiot and can't understand that. You probably listen to Finebaum as well

Did Dak have a relationship with his father? Was his dad at every game in pee wee and high school like his mom? Was he "there" for Dak after his Mom became ill?

But par for the course, if true. The media loves a good rags-to-riches success story, especially for a Heisman candidate, so it's predictable that they'd try to flesh out Dak's backstory with a narrative of how he came from a broken home, had work 68 hours a week shoveling manure while going to school and maintaining the first 10.0 GPA in history.

I recall they were all over Ingram's story when he was in the running for the Heisman.

Obviously, if untrue, it was just a horrible thing to say about a parent's involvement in his kid's life.

On one hand he's right and it was shitty they made that assumption

No offense, but you are assuming that it's an assumption. It may be dead on true and the dad just wants to make some defensive noise to save face.

ESPN had a good article about Dak's relationship with his mom. Here's the link. The article doesn't mention his father, but it implies that Dak's mom raised him and his two brothers by herself.

quote:

Everything Dak is comes as a credit to Peggy, who raised her three sons as a single mother while managing a truck stop in Louisiana.

quote:

"I'm going to live the rest of my life dedicating it to my mom," Dak said. "She's the reason I am the way I am in every aspect of my life. Everything I do is for her."

If Dak is not coming to his Dad's defense in a more forceful way, that speaks volumes as to how much he was involved in his life.
