Answered in your question.

I think they should get to count them, it's all they'll ever have.

UF was winning conference championships and rewriting the books on how football was played in the SEC while A&M was still playing grabass in the Big12 and "Mother May I" with Texas. Sit back down at the kiddie table and STFU.

Actually I guess it wasn't the Big12 in the 90s, but who the frick cares?

Original Big 6: 1933-1950
Alabama
Georgia
Georgia Tech
LSU
Tennessee
Tulane or Vanderbilt

-based also on pre-SEC success

Big 6: 1950-1963
Alabama
Georgia
Georgia Tech
LSU
Ole Miss
Tennessee

Big 6: 1964-79
Alabama
Auburn
Georgia
LSU
Ole Miss
Tennessee
-at this point we realized Ole Miss isn't going to recover, and they had to be officially replaced

Big 6: 1980-present
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
LSU
Tennessee

As you can see, the Big 6 isn't set in stone, but it takes a lot to get on there. It's also more about a team losing their spot than it is about a team earning a spot

Just curious. Sure, 3 of the teams were in different conferences, but prior to the 90s, there wasn't the kind of disparity you see today with SEC>>>>all. Hell, even Missouri has more Conf championships all time than UF, and they earned them playing against OU, CU, and Nebraska during their heyday.

At what time did you ever think it was a good idea to post this?

Only 6 schools have won the SEC Title in the last 50 years/since integration. That's what the Big 6 is.

This is the problem when you accept teams into the league with fans that have no idea about about why or how we do things in the SEC.

Spot on. LSU, BAMA, AUBURN, FLORIDA are locked in for a whole... Georgia has been fielding good teams lately. Tenn would be the one dropped IF another team wins a NC..

Georgia has won more SEC championships than Tennessee recently, however Tennessee has a MNC in the past 15 years while UGA does not.

Tennessee's past century has earned them a solid enough slot. If anyone's getting dropped it's going to be Auburn IMO. But it would still take at least another 10 years of seasons like last year for that to happen. Long story short: not going to happen

No they wouldn't. It would take a lot more than 1 National Title to replace Tennessee.

The Big 6 is "Earned" over a long period of time. It isn't a "One Year Wonder" Award.
