No, most people with a brain would go with end of the season rankings. Because that makes sense.

By this logic. Ole Miss, LSU and TAMU are the only schools to have beaten a #1 team since 2008

Therefore, AU has not beaten a top five Bama team in the last 5 years

Correct, of our 6 Top 10 wins, Bama was ranked 7th and 10th.

No it doesn't because the fact you beat a top ten team makes them drop out of the top ten. You people are so freaking dumb

If they are truly a top 10 it is unlikely they will drop out or they will likely be back in by the final rankings.

Otherwise, no top 10 team would ever have a loss.

well that act of beating a top ten teams does not automatically cause them to drop out of the top 10

Alabama has beaten 8 teams that finished in the Top 10 since 2008. Which is still more than any other program if we're going to go with final rankings as opposed to where they were ranked at the time of the game.

If true, that's not really surprising. Alabama has pretty easily been the best team in college football during that time frame by most meaningful metrics.

As for the debate about the OP's topic. It has been kind of interesting the inordinate amount of teams (compared to most) that Alabama has beaten that were highly ranked at the time but ended up having sub-par seasons. Just one of those things that appears to be an anomaly that has persisted for a few years.

The word truly probably shouldn't be used in reference to subjective rankings...

Dumb is trying to claim teams that go 8-5 should count as top 10 because preseason polls or they didn't play anyone before you beat them.

The other Big 6 against eos top 10 teams over that span:

LSU (7-9)
LINK

Auburn (6-9)
LINK

Florida (4-10)
LINK

Georgia (2-11)
LINK

Tennessee (1-18)
LINK

So the Twitter thing is wrong, LSU is tied with Alabama.

Probably not, but overall even the subjective rankings are relatively close. Especially regarding the general point between ranked at the time vs. ranked at the end.

With some exceptions and variations, the end rank is going to be a better gauge of the quality of a team than an early season or mid-season ranking.
