For the most part, it was a 2 team league back then.

I would say 3 teams. Florida and Tennessee were the two most dominant teams in the conference at that time, with Alabama coming in third due to the seasons of 1997 and 1998.

The rest of the conference was a mess though.
Arkansas: Mediocre until the late 90's.
Auburn: 2 great years where they were banned from winning anything.
Georgia: Goof and Donnan.
Kentucky: Kentucky.
LSU: Curly fries and Dinardo. Worst decade in their history.
Missisippi State: Meh.
Ole Miss: Actually a solid decade for them. Nothing great though.
South Carolina: Worst decade in their history.
Vanderbilt: Vanderbilt.

Spurrier doesn't have the talent at USCe and the SEC was a lot better from top to bottom when Spurrier was at UF.
I see.
3 SEC NC's in 12 years > 7 SEC NC's in 8 years?
Vandy of the 90's > Vandy of the last 8 years?
Hallman/Dinardo/Goff/Donnan > Miles/Richt?
And so on?
