He's not a Tampa 2 cb. Cowgirls ask him to trail the WR. He's a man lockdown cb.

When you're surrounded by extremely talented members of the secondary, sometimes you get opportunities to make plays and it inflates your worth.

He stepped into a Cowboys secondary that was absolutely HORRIBLE, hell the entire defense, and he's been picked apart.

I loved the kid at LSU and wish him nothing but the best. I was a bit surprised he was drafted as high as he was though. I think he can turn things around but he has to get over the injuries and the mental lack of confidence he now seems to have.

Cowboys got a steal and LC will get $$$ in 2 years.

And he got to pick his team.

Its because instead of asking a question first, you stated a very strong opinion based on fiction. If you didn't know, don't swing for the fences.

this is a strong opinion??? My gawd y'all are hyper sensitive

"just curious but if you were totally innocent would you sign this deal? I wouldn't. I'd wait til my name got cleared. Don't really understand this"

All that needed to be said is he HAD to sign a 3-year deal and this was the max. Neither of those things had been posted at that point in the thread. Is it now required I know all NFL udfa contract rules to post? FFS it really was an innocent post and y'all went super sensitive tigahs on it.

What happened to Mo? Monte Kiffin. A shame he has been injured last yr and this yr too. LSU fans may not like this, but I think he is done in the league after this yr. Our new DC, Marenelli, is darn good.

But have been all over this website for 2 weeks.

And this is the part you were so sure about and makes it sound like you are insinuating he's not innocent.

wasn't insinuating shite dude. I know nothing about his case. And before he signed with the cowboys I paid zero attention to him. Sorry for making you angry

I "think" what tmc was trying to say is that he would have just waited til his name got cleared and negotiated a better paying deal....I could be wrong, but I don't think tmc was insinuating La'el was guilty.

Or it could be that he can't stay healthy.

Also the Cowboys guaranteed all the years on the contract. They didn't have to do that. Not to mention the potential endorsement deals he could receive playing on arguably the highest profile team in the NFL, and the fact that in 2 years, the Cowboys (depending on how well Collins plays and develops) could shop him for multiple picks in the 2016 draft, or sign him to a better contract, makes this an absolute win for Jerry Jones.

The Cowboys were a playoff team with probably the best offensive line in the NFL.

Somehow they get a first round offensive tackle for less than 600K per year.

Jerry must have been sober lately.

Falcons could have used this player.

It really isn't a bad situation considering he went to a very good team that doesn't suck, he was able to pick where ever he wanted to go and he'll make good money. He can also get a new deal a year earlier.

If he's innocent, it is a very bad situation. He missed out on a huge guaranteed signing bonus. He could get hurt next year, and be out of the league. Although its nice to pick your team, I'm 100% sure these guys prefer any team for the money.

So could be not have just not signed with anyone, and just re-entered the draft next year?

ETA: Even if it was somehow against NFL rules, it is kind of a dick move by the NFL not to make an exception considering the situation wasn't of his making.

Indeed. Collins got screwed big time. Look at the contract Amari Cooper signed today vs. the one Collins signed yesterday.

Collins' does have two luxuries that drafted players don't: (1) he got to pick his team and (2) he can renegotiate his contract after only three years, meaning he can get a "second contract" more quickly than a drafted player (four year term).

But all else equal, he'll never make up the money he lost.

Sucks, but I think it will make him a better pro player in the long run. While everyone else drafted this year will receive hefty contracts and signing bonuses, he's got to bust his arse to earn his. It will only make him a better player

Agreed. This will lead to him leap frogging all the other olineman drafted this year when he signs his next contract. If he established himself, he could be looking at massive dollars on the back side. In the end this may mature him and keep him from being another sad financial statistic.

ETA: he also got a painful lesson in being careful who you hang around with.....
