Isn't there some sort of cap for Undrafted FA?

If not they could all withdraw from the draft and sign big money deals wherever they wanted instead of going to shite teams...

His options are very limited. Heard where he said.....if he wasn't drafted in the first three rounds, he would go back in the draft next year. One of the gum bumpers said....as a FA, he would not be eligible to re-enter the draft next year. He got as good a deal as he could have hoped for from the Cowboys.

However, Baton Rouge police have repeatedly said Collins is not a suspect in the case. Moreover, police have said a paternity test found Collins was not the father of the deceased child, according to published reports.

Talk about getting shafted. He isn't even going to make the $ in 3 years that first round lineman are getting in 1 year.

Although I feel Collins is innocent. You're damn straight I would sign that deal and get me some money. If I am guilty wtf is Dallas going to do to get the money back. I'm going to prison for double murder and possibly death penalty.

Sucks, but I think it will make him a better pro player in the long run. While everyone else drafted this year will receive hefty contracts and signing bonuses, he's got to bust his arse to earn his. It will only make him a better player

It really isn't a bad situation considering he went to a very good team that doesn't suck, he was able to pick where ever he wanted to go and he'll make good money. He can also get a new deal a year earlier. Phil Savage broke it down pretty well this morning and if he get's the max amount he can get for 3 years under the current structure, he will earn about roughly half what a first or second rounder would get over four years. That's a fair amount of money but he won't have to worry about making the team like a lot of UDFA's will and that money lost will be all but forgotten about in 3 years.

If he is as good as we think he is. That contract will be renegotiated after year 2.

Heck I would. If he'd of been drafted he could've ended up at a worse organization that most likely wouldn't make the playoffs. It's his best option and he can go in and potentially be a starter. Plus they probably slid him a good amount under the table

OLine guys can play a long time. If he plays well for 3 years, is a good teammate, and isn't mentioned in any more murder cases, he can get a big contract in 3 years.

"but he signed for 3 years. Pretty sure he didn't have to do that."

The NFL has a rule stating any undrafted free agents MUST sign a 3 year contract with a team. After 2 years they may renegotiate the deal and now it's bigger money.

I feel like I just read a post from my 3rd grade son. Only he would have been smart enough to leave out the murder comment.

He got as much as he possibly could as an UDFA. This also allows him to sign his 2nd contract sooner than a 1st round pick. Explain why he shouldn't sign the deal? His name being cleared wouldn't change the deal as it's a max deal for an UDFA.
