If you don't mind, I'd like to pick your brain a bit. Do you mind pointing out weaknesses in VOLS hoops?

Of particular interest, how could we have scored 4 more points on 5 Jan @ TBA? 100-50 sounds so much more fun than 96-50...

Thanks for lobbing me a slow fat one to hit out of the park. The way the Vols could have scored 4 more points Hell against that team just shoot it 2 more times.

Now you answer me a question in the tournament do you think you will play anyone that is that bad? Asking for a friend.

I think we really need to add a grad transfer big next year. I assume Kent will transfer out.

Right now depth chart is looking like

Bone/James
Bowden/Turner
Pons/Johnson/Gaines
Williams/Walker
Fulkerson/Burns/Pember

James could obviously play off the ball at the 3 if necessary as he’s done for Team USA but I’ve heard Barnes say a couple times now he’s the most polished high school point guard he’s ever signed.

Would be elite level guard play + Williams but would need those 3s and 5s to take a big step forward. Really wish we had been able to sign Petrusev.

I've watched a lot of bball and I really believe UT has one of the most productive benches I've seen in a while. Crazy depth on that team.

Your friend is obviously as savvy in basketball as you are. I guess if we don't win by 40+ it's not really a win. Might as well just cancel the whole thing and start over again next year.

At least we got 1 "real win" this season.

That's actually baseball, which is a different sport...

Yep. Vols look legit. I’m interested to see how we’ll match up with them. But right now, very early, UT looks like the class of the conference.

You know even they have a Final Four appearance, right?
Hell, even we had one before Billy D.

Was there final four appearance in 1980 or thereabouts?

That's a hell of a statement from Barnes. He looks like a man playing amongst kids on his tape though. The last guy I was this excited about coming out of high school was Jarnell Stokes.

Agreed -- Pons/Walker/Fulk will be key. I'm excited to see what Burns can add to the lineup as well.

The thing about this though is the element of chance in the NCAA tourney. It’s not like Alabama in football where if you are the best team, you win the title. You need at least two or three lucky breaks in the NCAA tourney to win 6 games against good teams.

Of course they could, but when the madness begins all bets are off. Virginia was clearly the best team in college bball last year heading into tournament and they become first ever to lose to a 16.. and wishful thinking Grant Williams coming back.. lol, not going to happen.

Nobody is arguing against your point. The same is true for every team hoping to make a deep run.

Right now he is projected as a second rounder by most. Why would he leave early if he isn’t a sure fire first rounder? Family comes from PLENTY of money.

The main thing is to get a good draw in the Tourney. If you get a good bracket, you've got a real good chance. Get a loaded bracket or a bad matchup and you'll wonder WTF happened?

Barnes has them on a roll, for certain. But most likely they'll wake up and realize they are UTjr. in the NCAAT, and it will end there. But I see them as an elite eight candidate....
