Petrino was also a much better football coach. Saban's strength is program building and recruiting. He is not a coach that can take inferior talent and beat supperior talent (assuming the talent gap is not huge) while Petrino is.

Petrino never beat superior talent with his schemes.

Petrino's teams always cave against a defense. In 2010, he hardly faced any defenses outside of Bama. And that was the worst defense for Bama since 2007.

Don't be a bad fact guy.

The fact that in 2008, Nick Saban took a team of mostly Mike Shula players, plugged in a few of his own, and almost made it to the BCSCG, says yes.

No one can win a national title at Arkansas.

Yeah, and his offense got shut down in Bryant-Denny by Ted fricking Roof. The bottom line is Saban wins his games before they start. His preparation and game planning are second to none, but his game DAY calling is suspect and the only reason Saban teams ever lose, IMO.

Another often used (but true) example is Saban with the Fins.

Your opinion on the intricacies of football play calling is extremely valuable. You should look into coaching.

LSU last year
Auburn - the Drive
UGA last year - down by 11

He has won a whole lot more of these than he has lost. What exactly are you referring to? ATM last year is an exception.

Yes, Coach Saban could win a NC at Arkansas.

What I would enjoy seeing is how far he could bring a program like Vanderbilt or Duke. I am unsure he could get them to a NC, but it would be neat what he could do with one of those programs
