Reading the language of the ACC's GOR, it appears that the rights are owned by the conference, not the individual members. So, I would think that if there's no conference, then the ownership is nullified, along with any other agreements the membership collectively signed. FSU didn't sign away their media rights to 13 other members, they signed them away to the conference.

That is a great point. The language is clear about ties to the conference, not the institutions.

After I reread the Big 12 GOR (I would love a link to the ACC GOR) I think I agree with your interpretation up to a certain point- it ties everything to conference bylaws but I haven't seen those.

For example, Baylor really felt in 2011 that it had a case based on conference bylaws to make A&M responsible for losses if the Big 12 disbanded. That was pre-GOR and it was a solid enough threat it made the SEC flinch and let A&M twist in the wind for a while.

So I agree the GOR can go down with the conference, I just don't know if those left behind get complete jack squat based on the bylaws. I will defer to you on that.
