You don't hear a coach say "we will find out when he will play after he meets with his own doctor" much. Just struck me as strange and indicated a possible rift, but honestly it is probably a better system to have an independent doctor make those decisions.

LSU lines struggling with depth

The offensive line has depth concerns specifically at OT, cant afford injuries to our starters. The starting OL looks really good.

Not sure why he mentioned "lines". The DL they have said for a while is the deepest it's been in a while. A very solid 6 man rotation with LaCouture, Gilmore, Lawrence, Herron and Alexander with Logan/Thomas/Farrell battling for 6th spot. There's also another senior there in Deondre Clark who I didn't mention.

a player being ineligible

Tyler Shelvin is a true freshman, he is on the team but taking an academic redshirt. He was going to be the 3rd string NT, so very limited playing time at best.

Key still being hurt and out of shape

I think that's a bit presumptuous to call Key out of shape, he may be, but we haven't seen him play yet. Being cautious after his shoulder surgery, target date of return is MSU game. K'lavon Chaisson, Andre Anthony and Ray Thornton will fill in for him while he's gone, really super deep at the rush linebacker position.

QB issues

I wouldn't call it issues as much as seeing the future in Brennan who has really looked great in his limited time here this late summer. We know what we're getting with Etling and it's up to Canada to maximize that like he did with Peterman at Pitt.

He said he was becoming concerned LSU might not be competitive in the SEC this season.

Honestly that's just kind of ridiculous. We returned a great deal from a team who barely lost 3 SEC games last year, upgraded our OC in a big way, have a senior QB, one of the best RBs in the country, solid line play on both sides (Assuming no major injuries), one of best pass rushers in country and as usual a very good secondary. LSU is in no position to be "not competitive" in this conference any time soon.

I have concerns about the Barn

where are you guys going to throw toilet paper when you win a home game ?

does your High School coach understand the SEC yet ?

is your QB going to transfer before the start of the football season ?

Is your DC going to make it through the entire year before he transfers to another program again ?

You guys bought around 10,000 tickets - do that many folk from Alabama know how to get to Louisiana ?

yes - I have many concerns about Auburn

Things some LSU fans will admit to being concerned about:
Officials in general, Tom Ritter specifically
REC
SEC Office in Bham
Saban and Emmert are BFFs
Dodge Chargers & NE LA eye doctors

Things most rational LSU fans will admit to being concerned about:
O-line depth
QB with limited ability
Potentially leaning too heavily on Guice, or, having to lean on inexperienced players at other skill positions
LB
Unknowns on how much Ed has improved since last time he was HC full time (not interim)

Having a HC who might not be literate would be a concern too

May not win a home game.

That is SEC Champion high school coach to you, and, probably not.

Doesn't matter as long as Chandler Cox is around.

Maybe.

They just follow the stench.

I don't think Key is out of shape necessarily. I mean he reached his target weight, put a little meat on, but it's hard to think he's out of shape.

That is puzzling to me as well. If anything, I thought last year he was very "slim" for a DE and could put on a good deal of weight. The guy is a beast and I just don't see how he did what he did last year playing at that weight. I do know he has a very long wing span that help him shed blocks from the tackle and he would just run over a RB that had pass pro.

Wide recievers have been disappointing

I don't feel like I've seen anything about this, other than our lack of experience. Gage and Stevens are really shining.

If we lose 2-3 starting olinemen we may be in trouble. Like 99% of teams.

QBs have looked hot and cold at practice.

Our 3rd string NT is ineligible.

Key has gained weight but no indication that he is out of shape.

We have like three OL. That's the concern.

Cautious optimism here. As an LSU fan who lives in BR, I think it will be exciting to watch them play this year, and I think we could win 10-11 games, but I also wouldn't be surprised if we dropped 3-4 close games either.

In the SEC, when the game is on the line in the end of the 4th quarter, will these guys be able to execute the new offense and get it done with it all on the line? We will soon find out.

I think most are cautiously optimistic about the new changes and excited to see it all come together.

Is it weird that he is going to his own personal doctor and not the team doctor

The entire episode has been a little odd. He was suspended in the Spring. His surgery was announced as soon as his suspension was lifted. I assumed he couldn't have the school pay for the surgery while suspended, so it wasn't performed until he was reinstated.

His personal Dr is probably very familiar with the injury, treated him prior to surgery, and not unusual at all to see him during his recovery.

I'd imagine if you were NFL talent, you have a second opinion outside of the school.

Judging by the Saints debacle, probably a good call.
