Zow was the starter in 99. Phillip Sims had every chance. Blake Sims was suppose to have been a wr, the kid can not throw at all.

No doubt it will be tough. However, he's spent 3 years in a similar offense while at FSU and he has all the physical tools to succeed.
He won't be given the job by any means either. But he will have very good RBs to hand the ball off to and very good WRs to throw to which will ease his transition to a starting QB role.
Don't forget that McElroy and AJ both won NCs by being "Game Managers" and taking what the defense gave them.
We've both done very well with first year starting QBs. Marshall didn't win the AU job during the Spring either.

Zow was actually good. Danny woodson was awful. Walter Lewis was so-so. Palmer wasn't a Qb.

Yeah, I mean I have no clue and know nothing about the kid. Just stating my opinion of a guy with the experience Coker has winning the job, especially without going through spring ball at Bama or even fsu this yr.

it's January and it's a wide open QB race so what you're saying makes a lot of sense but being hopeful about possibility and good reviews isn't exactly insane

Walter Lewis was a very good qb. He finished 9th in the Heisman ballots.

Zow didn't start Saturday for the first time all season because the coaches decided he was the right man at the right time. He started because the injured Tyler Watts couldn't. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

LSU went 13-1 with pedestrian QB play in 2011. A Stout defense and running game does wonders. Will be interesting to watch this competition play out.

Not to mention losing both his IBs and Bama finishing unranked both years he started. And Bama started one of those yrs in the top ten.
