Because on paper Alabama is still better than everyone else in the SEC, and everyone knows that. Granted the best team on paper does not always win, just like last year. The point is, if Coker is that good with all that talent around him, great things could happen. Will they? Who knows? But what is more likely, Bama to under achieve 2 years in a row, or Saban righting the ship for a championship run? September can't get here soon enough.

If you go by talent amassed over the last 4 or 5 recruiting classes, I don't think it can be argued. But your right everyone probably does not know that, but they should. We all know so many other things go into winning, attitude, coaching, motivation, execution, luck, etc.

having the #1 recruiting class, doesn't always mean you're going to be the best team in the country. florida had one of, if not the best classes in recruiting history, in 2010, yet last year they went 4-8. auburn, under gene chizik had some very good classes, and his final year, they went 3-9. i'm not saying bama is going to go 4-8 or 3-9, but i woulnd't say they are the best team in the sec, this comming fall. you can make an argument for south carolina, uga, LSU, auburn, and bama, as far as who could win the sec. it's a pretty open race, this year.

All the talk about Coker, am I the only one that saw some promise with Cooper Bateman? He was no worse in the A-Day than AJ was as a freshman. Coker may win the starting job, but with Bateman and Cornwell being Freshman I am pretty happy with the future at QB. Most of the negative focus has been on how bad Sims was, which no one should be shocked about.

Who was their head coach in 2010 and who was their head coach in 2013? Coaching still matters.

Same goes for Auburn's recruiting classes under Chizik. Malzahn took a 3-9 team and turned them into a 12-2 team in just a single season. Obviously Auburn had talent on that roster, it just wasn't being utilized correctly.

One thing is absolutely certain, since 2002 when Rivals started keeping track of recruiting rankings, each team that has finished with a #1 recruiting class has won at least one national championship.

my point is, you can't put everything in recruiting. if that were the case, OU would have had no shot in the sugar bowl, boise state would have never beaten uga, mizzou would have never won the east, texas would have won multiple national championships.

I've only seen the first half, but Bateman impressed me throwing the ball. Should be an interesting Fall camp..

Bateman at least seemed much more confident in his command of the offense. I really feel he will have something to say about being the starting QB before all is said an done. It is silly to write people off this early, especially after a spring game with a watered down offense that is basically being fed to the defense like lambs to lions.

Other than the RBs, the Bama spring game was hard to watch. However, when has Saban had a stellar QB at Bama?

Bama's offense never looks amazing during A-Day. That is one of the downfalls of playing ones against ones. If we allowed Cooper Bateman to pass behind the first string oline to our first string receivers we also would have had a more interesting game.

Honestly the qb play could not have turned out better for me. If Sims had a halfway decent A-Day there would be a qb controversy which can mess with the chemistry of a team. I think everyone could see from A-Day that Sims is not an SEC caliber qb.

I'm looking forward to seeing Bateman and Coker battle it out for the starting job.

The only thing from A-Day that I am super concerned about is our kicking. I think we managed to find a kicker worse than Foster.
