How so? I would say lack of talent but honestly they recruited well enough that some is still there.

I seriously doubt it unless someone turned him into a tight end.

Mullen isn't good enough to coach at Arkansas, thus he will not be granted the opportunity to interview.

you said attrition is why they have average talent. The coaching staff has failed to develop the talent is the problem.

It would take a great hire and 2-3 years to get Arkansas where state is once Wilson is gone

A booster that passed away left a huge amount of money to the school. The purpose of this money was for coach's salary. Money will not be the factor that decides if he stays or leaves State.

You can't honestly believe that anyone loves Starkville

talked to multiple Tennessee fans that said they absolutely loved it and even like it better than Oxford. Not a flame. Not a lie. I didn't ask them about Oxford. They brought it up. They also said we are tops in tailgating now. So keep spewing your bullshite. Sorry I don't have an article from a magazine.

I don't see Pat Dye allowing auburn to hire Mullen. He almost blew the Cam deal.

Dan's name will be thrown about a lot this year. I think he would leave for about 10 jobs. UT being one of them, if they come calling he will be gone. I don't think Auburn wants him, Arky will probably place a call, but he isn't leaving to go to that meth state with no recruits.

I think he would leave for Nebraska as well.

You don't think that Dan Mullen would ever leave Starkville to go to Texas A&M, Georgia, Auburn, South Carolina, or Tennessee?

This hasn't happened in the SEC one single time under Mike Slive. Why do you think that is? The last time it happened period was Tuberville in 1998, 14 years ago, under Kramer. There have been about 35 head coaching changes since that time in the conference, and not once has it happened again. That is more than coincidence. It is because Slive strongly opposes poaching head football coaches from within the conference. I don't know if he has the power to block it or not, but no one has yet seen fit to test him on it...and if Florida didn't for Mullen, no one will.

quote:

I vehemently disagree. Personally, I think he'd leave for any of those locations. Maybe not Arkansas but I don't think the opportunity to leave State would be too much of a tough choice if it were any of those schools I listed plus the ones you think are the only 3 he'd leave for.

People always talking about Mullen leaving for "more attractive destinations" really do not understand Mullen or what makes him "tick" at all. They are just thinking about "what would I do?" Mullen is cocky. He thinks he can be a better coach than everyone else. You can never "prove" that at places like Florida and Texas. You are just the "new guy doing the same job as the old guy" even in winning titles. To some extent, it seems that that idea disgusts him. He does not want to be the next. He wants to be the first. As long as he feels like he can eventually get that done at Mississippi State, he will stay at Mississippi State.

Mullen has been on top of the mountain as an OC. He made every step with Meyer from Notre Dame, to Bowling Green, to Utah, to Florida. He also saw Florida cannibalize Meyer for one bad season. His wife saw him getting cussed and booed for the OM loss in the Swamp, when his appendix had ruptured 3 days earlier, and he checked himself out of the hospital against doctor's orders in order to coach that game. Zero appreciation in those places. His wife(vocally) treasures the appreciation that he gets in Starkville, even after heartbreaking losses...
