I wouldnt say Georgia is underrated.

In fact, 8th may be too high, but its all semantics at this point.

If we can show the same performance as 2nd half Clemson on a consistent basis then we're definitely underrated.

As is, until we're forced to pass the ball or defend the pass (due to our pass rush getting shut down) then I'll remain hesistant.

UCLA ahead of A&M

This is the one that I think is ridiculous. UCLA was terrible. LSU played a good team so I can't complain about that.

LSU beat a top 15 team in a neutral site.
Overhyped or not, A&M gave a top ten team a beatdown of biblical proportions in their own house

I think you missed my point. He singled out LSU and UCLA when LSU should not have been anywhere near where he should have started as far as teams A&M should be ranked ahead of.

In the end, the top of the rankings were very close to being correct.

Sorry, I disagree. It was a "beauty contest" just like it was with this weeks poll. There is no way in hell the top 2 teams should be where they are right now. In a month, maybe......today, hell no.

Ohio State ahead of Georgia is ridiculous...I don't know exactly where OSU should be ranked, but certainly not top 10.

They gave us a good bump. If we deserve it we will go higher. If Ohio St. does not deserve it (And they don't) they will drop. It will show up.

Others Receiving Votes Oklahoma State 106

In the preseason poll, they got 56 points and would have ranked #30 if the rankings went that far. Now they have 106 and are #26. Reminds me of 1979, when LSU went into its game with #1 USC ranked 19th, lost a close one, and moved up to #17. A rare occasion when poll voters actually make a good decision, recognizing that losing a close one to a top team is often better than beating a shitty team.

I wish they'd avoid doing polls until at least week 3.

So they shouldn't have their opinions published?

How about this, why not YOU just not click on threads with titles like "Coaches Poll" until week 3?

Wouldn't that get you the same result? You don't have to try to control what other people do if you just control what you do.

Polls shouldn't be taken until October.

How can we ensure Big 10 teams will have a fair shot unless we rank them high in preseason and keep them there for "not losing" to shitty teams?

I love what A&M did, but SC was a bit over-hyped coming into the season. They lost as much as anyone from last year. I predict A&M will come down to earth a bit and SC to improve as the season progresses. Both will be solid units by years end.

No I was told all off season A&M lost the GOAT QB, GOAT WR, and GOAT LT. No way USCe lost more all of a sudden.

I'm so glad we are doing away with this system. The new one will have flaws, but damn.

I thought the same exact thing. Thank goodness we are going to a 4-team playoff. I never realized how f-ed up a system this was with the BCS, mostly because I just had to accept it as the way of life.

FSU with a near monopoly of first-place votes while UGA has one?

Not saying UGA deserves to be #1, but with the old system, we would have to sit there with our fingers crossed and hope that FSU, Oregon, OU, MSU, etc. lose a game, because as long as they keep winning, no matter how unimpressively, they'll stay ranked ahead of everyone else.

Thank you football gods for the playoffs.

Why....you idiots are the ones saying that aTm is the best team in the nation because they beat a shell of a defense. I'm just saying why don't we wait and see before anointing them.

No they werent.

They made some great defesive plays and pulled away late to win 2000 miles form home.

Keep in mind that the game kicked off at noon...that is 9 am for those guys. It takes the body time to adjust to that. They were getting taped up and eating breakfast at like 5 am(pac time)

It's whatever, I would rather us be low teens than bust in the top ten suddenly with such a young squad. If we do what we need to do we will end up where we need to end up.

They looked pretty bad to me. Give them credit for 3 defensive TDs but there was a lot to be concerned about if you are a UCLA fan. Also i dont consider a 1 score final as "pulling away late".

It wouldn't get the same result because they wouldn't have preconceived biases based on what they thought before they saw anyone play. As it stands, they aren't flexible enough to just go off of the information gleaned from play on the field. Waiting until a few games have been played to cast votes would correct some of that problem.

Don't really have any respect for the coaches poll.

They have their preconceived notions, do not react well to new information, and do not even watch the games.

It is a really ignorant and antiquated poll that should even be viewed as legitimate IMO.

Agreed. Not to mention they will show bias to their own conference. No PAC 10 coach will vote for a SEC team, and probably no SEC coach will vote for a PAC 10 team.

I'd rather be at high as possible as soon as possible. There is huge bias when you have a little single digit # next to your name. Lets not pretend the committee members won't be influenced by what ESPN and national polls show every day.
