#1 North Carolina...

And that right there is why these type of silly stat games don't mean a thing. North Carolina #1 offense? Lol. They didn't play anyone with a pulse in the regular season, which is probably why they were #1 in offense. Those clowns couldn't even beat us. North Carolina didn't have a single quality win the entire season.

Secondly, if Alabama can't beat that Clemson team that gave up 32 points to a Perry Orth led South Carolina team, that lost to the Citadel the previous week, then it's probably time for Saban to hang it up. Bama will win by 17.

I wish UA could play Clemson and then turn around the next day and play Ole Miss, just to clear up an misunderstandings the Rebs might have.

Bama in recent years have had issues with mobile QB's and so I will say it will take a quarter for them to adjust to watson. Outside of him though, I look for Bama to force clemson to throw to beat them. Cyrus Jones is an animal and I think he has a huge game against the tiglets. watson gets a few good plays in but I think Bama grinds them to the win.

Well if Alabama hasn't faced good offenses this year, then Clemson surely hasnt.

From pure offensive ranks Alabama faced on average a team ranked #54. Clemson? #56. When you see that Alabama allows about a touchdown less than Clemson despite facing better average offenses, you can see why people have much more faith in Alabama stopping Clemson than Clemson stopping Alabama.

The biggest mismatches for this game are Clemson doesn't have that #1 wide receiver capable of getting balls no matter what, and Clemson ranks in the 100s in special team play. Their punting is awful and sets up short fields often. Something Alabama thrives on is controlling field poaition. I don't trust Clemson's defense to stop Alabama in that scenario.

Bear in mind that Alabama, despite having 5 HUGE turnovers in the Ole Miss game, came back within 6 points. We were not blown out by any means, when we should have been. (Not to mention that ridiculously lucky up-in-the-air-helmet-bounce-into-the-arms-touchdown.)

You have some good points, but to me, the turn overs made all the difference in the world in that game. Take those away, and I really believe Alabama had that game won.

I agree, I think Bama literally curb stomps them.

I'd say it'll be close. Something like 27-21 but Bama comes away with it. Should also be noted that Dalvin Cook averaged like 9.5 yards per carry in the game vs them. I think or I at least hope Alabama runs Henry like there is no tomorrow. It also sets up Ridley for one on one matchups. Clemson has shut down some bad rushing attacks but hasn't shut down even moderately okay ones. If Alabama calls the right game, Henry could go for over 200.

Alabama was twice down by 20 points in the 2nd half. But for some wild-arse runs by Coker and an illegally batted ball on an on-sides kick, Bama would have lost by more than 2 touchdowns.

We get it. You want Clemson to win.

How many more novel length threads are you going to start between now and Monday night about it?

Good work there dawg and valid points. Should be a real good championship game. Now do the same scrutinization of Clemson and you will see why Bama is favored. While undefeated, most teams (many not even ranked top 50) give Clemson trouble. I feel really good about this one.

Thank you Captain Obvious. Would love to share this with others if only someone would invent a device that can simultaneously move galaxies of information.

Yep. TL, DR.

Sounds like you should go to vegas and bet everything you have on Clemson. Let me know how that works.

I would have just said "Clemson will be Bama's toughest test... because they are playing for the national championship in the final game of the year."

I'm not sure you really needed to stat us to death, to be honest.

Other than the stats and schedule comparisons, the one thing that has me confident is Clemson's style of running. Watson doesn't go around the end that much, he runs the read and then takes it between the tackles most of the time. That's not going to work at all against Alabama.

For Clemson to win, they need Watson to improvise and force Bama to stretch out. So far, that doesn't seem to be what Clemson does. But we'll see.

I would hope so. It is the championship game, and as a football fan I hate watching blowouts in title games.

My predictions:
1. Bama +10
2. Saban to NFL after the win
3. Kiffin promoted to HC
4. Bama wins 8 games next year
(predictions 2-4 were sarcasm)

The problem with these cross-division analysis is we are assuming Clemson and Bama played a similar set of teams. They didn't..and the bowl records prove, more than anything, that the ACC this year is a steamy shite pile. The SEC, esp the West, while down, is def a lot stronger from top to bottom.

The whole grounds for the comparison is obsolete. Can Clemson win...sure they have the talent and coaching. The one thing that will hurt them is the lack of experience. This is just a day at the office for Saban and Company while its a first for Dabo. I think thats the deciding factor.

Bama has faced one team with both a Top 25 offense and a Top 25 Defense. And they lost that game.

Clemson has faced two such teams and beat them both.
To get a true understanding we need to see the average opposition face. For defense you need to show the average offense they face and vice versa.

forcing five Bama turnovers

They didn't force five; two happened on kick returns where the ball was knocked loose by two tards bumping into each other and knocking the ball loose with no help from Ole Miss.
