But keep on trying to convince yourself Chavis had no impact on Honey Badger's succes, or that of any other elite LSU defender in his time there.
Who said the word "no"?
You did.
But by all accounts and according to Chavis, he was the DC and LB guy. :/

I'll paypal you $1,000 if you can go a day without posting in an LSU related thread or mentioning them.
Your history of welching says you probably won't.
But hey, people can change.

You know you could have just pointed out how much better Steele's defenses at Clemson were until they switched to a Sumlin style offense.

Wow! You guys are coming around. So you're saying that Kevin Steele can be a better coach and LSU's offense can improve? This is truly a remarkable moment in SECrant history.

Another one for chavis. 440 rushing 86 passing for 526. So you can torch him through the air or on the ground.

These threads sure seem to indicate LSU A&M is a rivalry.

Rivalry? The most one-sided rivalry in the SEC then.

Clemson defensive rankings by season:
2004: 30th
2005: 16th
2006: 11th
2007: 10th
2008: 13th
2009 (Steele's arrival): 24th
2010: 22nd
2011: 86th
I don't know about you, but that there looks like a trend. Steele did alright with the last staff's obviously stout defensive legacy for a couple years admittedly.

You hired Alabama's LB coach. That was an administrative assistant for UA in 2013. And was demoted in favor of Smart after 2007. So he left for Clemson in 2008.

Chavis didn't coach DBs
Go look at Mathieu's highlights and tell me if any of that can be coached. He's had it naturally since high school. sure, he called plays to put him in position to wreak havoc, but it's not like Chavis worked with him in drills. He's a linebacker coach.
I give the man credit. He's a really good DC and A&M's defense will definitely improve. But to give him credit for guys like PP7 or Mathieu is just flat out dumb. He benefited from having them, not the other way around.

You mean a top 30 defense except one outlier in 2011? That's a trend to you? Texas A&M must've taught you a lot.

Arkansas hired Tampa Bay's LB coach and they held Alabama to 14 points.

So now the LB coach can claim success for DBs?
You either don't know anything at all about football, don't know anything about what went on at LSU, or both.
It doesn't take Vince Lombardi to figure out the best spot for TM7 is roving nickel back.

Yeah, that's how things work
Defensive coordinators at the FBS level spend HOURS every week with their position coaches, delegate duties and what they want from various positions, watch film on and meet with players to help them improve, watch other position group drills and step if need be, etc.
You are just simply ignorant of the nature of coaching at this level if you dont think everything a position coach does is approved and at some point observed by the coordinator. I guarantee you John Chavis was hands on with every position group on his defense at various points every week.
