Texas best chance of competing with the big boys again is to focus on that Defense and create an offense that helps it thrive.

Actually that isn't true anymore:

You mean Briles? Yeah I thought they should have done that too, but they demanded he interview and he just wanted the offer without an interview.

When two Texas sized egos collide anything can happen.

I see it's time for another round of "Fun with Arbitrary Time Periods". This is a game usually played by LSU fans, but some AU fans have gotten good at it lately. I'll play along using your time frames:

Undefeated seasons since
1970: tie 3-3
1980: 3-2 Auburn

3 titles. 1 undefeated season. Auburn has had 7 conference titles since 1980 to Bama's 7. You conveniently left out the valid 3-way tie of '89 off Auburn's number (or just can't count) but not Bama's, not to mention Auburn beat Alabama that season. And of course, you counted the ridiculous 70's NC claims, yet you want to talk arbitrary. What was I supposed to do? Go year by year counting down to present day?

They are, they are overshadowed by A&M in their own state, they are exactly like Auburn.

Wow, I can smell the fear and insecurity from here.

Did you not read the article? Charlie basically admits he can't do that if just for recruiting reasons.
