Several years later and you're still bitter about being buttfricked and money whipped for all those years...

Quick fix relates to gimmick football. Also, more people in prison per capita in Texas than anywhere else in the US. Makes for larger recruiting base for Texas, just as API had to do to try and catch up.

Thought we were going to slip an auburn thread by you today.

That'll teach me to underestimate your dedication to auburn/api/east alabama men's college

Texas lost 4 conference games last year, as far as I can tell they are already like Auburn.

The full quote is better:

He’s not trying to re-create Louisville on a bigger stage; the Texas of 2015 is trying to emulate Auburn. Texas is no longer setting the agenda for football in the state; the Longhorns are adjusting on the fly just to keep up.

I'd love to know who you think the author is referring to. Who are they trying to keep up with?

So he's trying to be second fiddle to an SEC program in the same state? I like the analogy.

Baylor/TCU on the field.

A&M and a chunk of the SEC West on the recruiting trail.

The second sentence is an admission of being 2nd rate in their state. I don't think I've ever witnessed that sort of admission from Texas ever.

That would seem to be sweeter to aggies than anything to do with AU.

Exactly.

Since 1970:

Bama 9.42-3.58

1980:

Auburn 8.93-4.07
Bama 8.91-4.09

I see it's time for another round of "Fun with Arbitrary Time Periods". This is a game usually played by LSU fans, but some AU fans have gotten good at it lately. I'll play along using your time frames:

Since 1970
Auburn: SEC Championships (6) National Titles (1)
Bama: SEC Championships (15) National Titles (7)

Since 1980
Auburn: SEC Championships (6) National Titles (1)
Bama: SEC Championships (7) National Titles (4)

To be honest I'm not sure he has much of a choice but to emulate Auburn.

Not saying that to insult Auburn in this case, but Swoopes was a miserable passer last year and the stud QB they recruited is worse at throwing the ball then Swoopes. You don't want those guys sitting back in the pocket throwing passes to God only knows who.

So a read/spread option attack that lets Texas use its speed and athletic ability is just about the only thing they can do to win this season.

The problem, of course, being that everyone else in the Big 12 runs a variant of the same offense and sure seems to run it better then Texas will manage.

How are the words "copycat," "mini," or "midget" racist terms?

well, if he cant find the second coming of teddy bridgewater and put together an oline that resembles something besides oklahoma panhandle state, then he should probably try to emulate auburn.

He won't be at Auburn, Gus will be offered $7 million to coach TEXAS.

They want to be like Bama but Saban said no, Gus is young and would take Tx. Much more money to spend than anyone.
